Vagabond: Common misconception: The movie sucked.

It was amazing.
The first Movie was fun if you had never read the book. As a stand alone alien monster movie it wasn't bad at all. The problem was that they tacked on the Starship Troopers name and then ignored everything about the book.

If I remember correctly the movie was originally going to be called "Bug Hunt" and then the studio found out that they could get the rights to Starship troopers and decided to adapt the screen play. I seem to remember that the director never bothered to even read the original book.

The NTSC (US) and PAL versions are, the NTSC (JP) version doesn't work.

The movie was a giant turd.

When the movie first came it, I hated it... and I gladly stomped the Earth for years declaring to all that it sucked...

Then years later, older, and wiser, I looked upon the film again, and recognized the satirical elements and saw what Verehoven was really doing and suddenly I saw a whole new movie that I like very much.

Its actually a quite subversive film.
I have to admit to loving both the book and the movie... I just keep them separate in my mind. I am intrigued by this RTS though - I only knew about the FPS which I bought from EB for $5 years ago.

The movie was okay but only drew the setting from the book. The book was a deep, insightful social commentary, the movie was a parody of our current society.
I dunno man, I kinda hated the book. I really enjoyed the movie though. But this game though... it's kinda like a Sci-Fi Myth?
No Powered Suit == !(Starship Troopers)

Verhoeven can suck it. But I still love Robocop. And you can buy that with a dollar.

I'm curious how old you were when you read the book and why exactly you hated it? I mean if you hated Lord of the Flies and Of Mice and Men as well then I would say you just don't like social commentary in your plots.

Oh, this was years ago. Middle School, I think, 8th grade? I just thought it was him rambling on about how he thought things ought ot be run, while ignoring for pretty much the entire novel things that were actually, you know, interesting. Mae what's honestly a pretty short book seem oh so very long. I've never read Lord of the Flies, but I did have to read Of Mice and Men for class, and actually enjoyed it.

You might want to re-read the book, the entire setting was a way to abstract out his thoughts on human selfishness. I think since you're older you may enjoy it a bit more. In eighth grade you were probably not too concerned with much beyond girls (I'm guessing, that's how I was, I could be assuming too much:) ).
