Miaghstir: Going by what they've said (I believe it was at BlizzCon last year), each campaign will be as long as the whole previous game, this first release being the Terran campaign as well as multiplayer for all races. Of course, that was quite a while ago and stuff have doubtlessly changed since then, but at least it's a guideline of what to expect.

Yeah, I remember reading that. Apparently they got to a certain point where they realized there was just too much stuff for one game so they decided to split it up. How the length of a game is measured can be deceiving though. They didn't originally plan on creating three whole games so I'm just worried that they may have added timesink content in order to actually make each campaign long enough to be considered a full game.
Still, I loved the first one so I'm sure I'll buy it eventually. :)
£40 for a third of a game? I'll pass.
So nice I have Dawn of War 2....
I'll buy it like I buy all games like that, when they come out with a "Battlechest" edition that has them all like the Starcraft one and Warcraft 3 one.
The new Starcraft is basically Starcraft 1 but shinier and with a few new units.
Dawn of War is amazing Acare84, how is the second one?

Second is different but it is good too. In second one your armies are not big as the first one it is hero oriented and not has base building. So fast action. :) Also single player is like a RPG game you must level up your heroes and loot the weapons, armors etc.. from maps. You can try the demo if your system is not so old.

Thank you! I loved how you could develop your units in the first one. So one squad had anti=vehicle, one was anti-infantry etc.

Navagon: 40 for a third of a game? I'll pass.

Each "third" will, according to Blizzard, contain full-fledged multiplayer and, if I'm not wrong, a campaign equivalent in length to the three of the original combined. Presumably the two other parts will be expansion pack-priced, or the like.

It's still a shitty way to wring more money out of our wallets. Release one game in 3 different packs+Expansions and charge for each. Nifty.

So they've bloated it. A lot. To make three games from one. If the other campaigns were expansions then it wouldn't be quite so bad. But face it; Kotick's grubby little fingerprints are all over this one.

Didn't Bobby the Bollocks already admit that splitting it into 3 games was his idea?

I haven't heard that, so I don't know for sure. But it's definitely something he'd do.

I think he mentioned something about it in the same interview he said "I would raise prices even further if I could".
Ars seem to believe it is Activision and not Blizzard that pushed for the move though.

It was Blizzard, they've always been greedy fucks in their own right, but at least they used to make a quality product too.

Ever since WOW they've been all about the money. There used to be such obvious love invested in the games they made.
Now we get titles like Starcraft 2 which couldn't be any more of a fan service cash cow if it mooed followed by a little *ching* sound.
I wish I could describe that better. Mooching, perhaps. Yeah, that works.
Exactly! All it really is, is the Starcraft 1 with a fresh coat of paint, new maps and some new units (Kinda like Halo). Now they know the die hard fans are going to gobble up the separate prices..for the same game.
And paying close to a hundred dollars like that for just one game in multiple packs, no thanks ill stick to the first one.
