Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

No Jar Jar? :p

Pretty cool to see this finally confirmed. Kind of crazy and awesome that we're going to see Luke, Han, and Leia once again.

It's hilarious to see Max von Sydow among the new cast members. He could have easily played one of the more mature characters in the original trilogy (he's older than the actor who portrayed the Emperor in both trilogies!). Plus he's the only actor from the new cast I actually know.

And Pauly Shore as an Ewok.
Let's just hope no slave bikini repeat for Leia... that would be... um... awkward. Heh.

Well, at least he might actually give that character some depth then. =P But seeing how Jar Jar doesn't exist in the original trilogy, I think we're safe there. ;)

If Emperor Ming has opened a dimensional rift and is invading the Star Wars Universe... well, that might be just about the only thing that would get me out to the theatres to see this.

*shrug* I know I'll be going to the cinema for that just out of sheer curiosity. I actually managed to sit through all the prequels. In a way they had some comedic value. That said, I've never watched them since their original theater releases nor do I ever plan to. I definitely have much higher hopes for these new films, but I'll still be keeping my expectations low. You can say what you want about JJ Abrams, but he's going to be a huge improvement from Lucas's schtick.

Not completely safe, I'm afraid. According to Wookieepedia, "Binks was alive and well in 6.5 ABY [after Episode VI], and was present on Coruscant during its liberation from the Galactic Empire by troops of the New Republic". They also shoehorned some Gungans into the Blu-ray edition of Episode VI.

Ugh. Damn Lucas and his stupid revisions. I'm still hoping for a good remaster of the originals on DVD/Blu-Ray. Now that Disney owns the franchise that may be more likely to happen, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.

Look for the "Despecialized Edition" of Star Wars made by a guy named Harmy. He has taken the Blu-ray versions of Star Wars and painstakingly removed all of the Special Edition changes to produce something that's virtually identical to the original theatrical releases. Amazing work, and probably the closest we will ever get to an HD release of the original unaltered trilogy.
If Ghost Anakin shows up in the new trilogy, will they use the old one or the young Anakin from the prequels like they did in Episode 6 since it went on dvd?
I hope the rumors of the girl being the main hero are true. That would be nice.
