Crosmando: Are you serious? Obi Won has to be the most bland and boring character of all the prequels, there's literally nothing remarkable or remotely interesting about his character, he just *is*. Even Hamill in the originals, he played a very cliche character type, but he delivered it great. McGregor's take on "wise Jedi" was just awful, though I have no doubt any attempts he made to change lines or let his character grow were shut down by Lucas who was only interested in SW characters as one dimensional.
I think all of this is because of the poor writing though, not any fault of McGregor. Supposedly the original movies had terrible dialogues in the scripts too, but the actors (especially Ford) just improvised a lot of stuff, because they couldn't bring themselves saying Lucas' horrible writing.
There's a famous quote by Harrison Ford: " George, you can type this shit, but you sure has hell can't say it."

I was completely sure the last trilogy was going to be all CGI much like the Clone Wars (and I mean the CGI not the cartoon shorts).

Who cares? The sole idea of a robotic Jedi/Sith was moronic to begin with (and please don't start explaining why he's technically not just a robot - any organic stuff they added was just an excuse for having a robot fighting with light sabers).

See, I *love* Tartakovsky's work and also what he's done with the material, in fact I adore the Clone Wars show despite hating the "new" trilogy. But the joke's on you. The show's creators wanted to have this guy be the assassin of jedis, Grievous was thought up by George Lucas (who, as we all know, was already demented at the time). See? I actually would have preferred Tartakovsky's choice over the one imposed by Lucas so I'm actually not at all disrespectful towards his work.

And to be honest, at no point did I think that Grievous was thought up by Tartakovsky. The thing has Lucas written all over.

As one of the biggest Star Wars geeks on this planet, or any other, I assure I was not complaining or making fun of. :P The other day I actually tried to start a Star Wars flame war IRL but no one would bite on my premise and I was left on my own.

I guess I'm looking to gog for my breaking news now? Hadn't heard about the announcement until now. Your move, twitter.

Though I'm not familiar with most of the new cast, I think they all definitely have a look that would fit in a Star Wars movie.

And nothing will convince me that, whatever your issues with Abrams, these movies could possibly be as bad as the prequels. I was born in 1974 and had a relatively happy home life - meaning I lived and breathed Star Wars as a kid. I still love being reminded of the smell of the early 80s plastic of the action figures. I was such a fan that... I still haven't seen Episode III. And I've had it on a hard drive for years.

Now pushing 40, there's not much in this world that can excite me as much as Star Wars did in my youth. But not much will put me off as much as the prequels did.

Erm, aren't the old stars, you know, kinda old now? I'm not entirely sure if makeup will do good in hiding that.
