Exactly my thoughts. You can't add more CGI and the story can't get worse than the Anakin "Jesus" Skywalker stuff from EP I-III (Immaculate Conception? A child of "The Force"? Seriously?!?)... And even Disney can't create characters worse than Jar Jar or Grievous (A coughing droid -.- One of the few things I remember from EP III). So I'm optimistic that EP VII will be "better"...

F4LL0UT: It's hilarious to see Max von Sydow among the new cast members. He could have easily played one of the more mature characters in the original trilogy (he's older than the actor who portrayed the Emperor in both trilogies!). Plus he's the only actor from the new cast I actually know.
You don't know Andy Serkis? He's the guy who was mo-capped for Golum in the LotR/Hobbit movies plus mocapped for King Kong in Peter Jackson's remake, there was a biopic of Ian Dury where he actually got to be live action which was quite good too! But yeah, as to who the others are - who knows?

F4LL0UT: In that case I apparently know him. It's not like having watched LotR and King Kong will make you remember his face, though. IIRC he WAS his live action self in one scene - the flashback at the start of the second movie (I think) where Golum is still a Hobbit called Smeegol and he's fighting over the ring with his friend and he ends up drowning him
But yeah, it was just that one scene and he's even less recognisable as Kong!

Crosmando: The good thing of course is that these movies are almost guaranteed to be better than the prequels (I mean can you get worse?) so there is no high expectations.
I am worried that it might end up as bad or even worse than the prequals. Because Goddman someone needed to recreate the badness of the prequals with internet as it is today. Fuck its going to be Mass Effect 3's ending all over again if the movie ending up like like shit.

Crosmando: The plot might end up a bit derpy, but I think it'll probably end up being carried by the actors, the prequels although the storytelling was atrocious had a weak cast, too many young inexperienced actors in leading roles. Fuck its going to be Mass Effect 3's ending all over again if the movie ending up like like shit.
Hell I think the only decent actors in the prequels were Ian McDiarmid and Christopher Lee, the rest were either completely bland characters Obi Wan they were some CGI abomination "character" like Yoda, the droid general

Also at least the CGI Yoda looked better than the Puppet they used in The Phantom Menace:

And goodness how they ruined the awesomeness of General Grievous in ROTS because he was intimidating in the 2003 Clone Wars mini series:

He also played the villain in Inkheart, one of the better YA adaptations (bearing in mind that most of them have been teenage romance shit masquerading as sci-fi or horror), one of his few mainstream real performances. That being said, I don't think it made it mainstream outside of Germany...

Ewan McGregor is a good actor. You can clearly see him struggling with delivering these aweful lines.

If Ford will do some actual acting and not just sleepwalk until he gets his check I'll be very very surprised.

Y'know I'm sure I once saw Hayden Christian in something where he acted really well and putting in a powerful performance, can't remember what though *checks IMDB* Factory Girl? Virgin Suicides? something anyway... I don't think the prequels were short on acting talent anyway - Natalie Portman and Kiera Knightly are both pretty damn good in other stuff too! Portman from the age of 12, or something, in Leon!
Yeah I heard his performance in Ender's Game was a bit... stilted, I bet he struggles just to remember his lines at his age now though...

Are you serious? Obi Won has to be the most bland and boring character of all the prequels, there's literally nothing remarkable or remotely interesting about his character, he just *is*. Even Hamill in the originals, he played a very cliche character type, but he delivered it great. McGregor's take on "wise Jedi" was just awful, though I have no doubt any attempts he made to change lines or let his character grow were shut down by Lucas who was only interested in SW characters as one dimensional.
