tinyE: Any thoughts on how Lego Star Wars "the complete saga" stacks up to the movies. Just asking.
As far as I can tell the games are tribute to the movies ("games" in plural because The Complete Saga is basically a compilation of the previous two LEGO Star Wars games). The games themselves don't bother really telling the story, IIRC there's not even any voice acting and the cutscenes and levels are rather parodies of the films. The levels and events follow the chronology of the films and reproduce the events there but without knowing the films the stuff doesn't make much sense. But I think that the games treat the movies with a certain kind of respect that any Star Wars fan should enjoy.

DieRuhe: But let's face it, Mark Hamill was not the greatest actor

ET3D: Still, he was better than what's-his-name who played Han Solo.

Regarding Star Trek, I think the general rule is to start watching with Season 4. (Except of course for the original series.)
Did he just dis Harrison Ford!?

I'm gonna cry.

I'm crying.

I still love you Han! I still love you Indy!
MARK HAMILL IS THE BEST JOKER!

Well, best Joker voice, anyway.

2nd this but Ledger made the better live action joker. Well, next to Cesar Romero.
I liked the X-Wing novels and Timmothy Zahn's books better than the movies. KOTR was fun, I don't know if I liked it better than the movies though.

Nergal01: in comparison to *ugh* Voyager.
What *is* wrong with Voyager, anyway? I am currently enjoying it more than DS9. Keep in mind I am currently watching it, 3rd season to be precise, so please no spoilers. While I can't stand Felix, I'm really liking it.

Not to sound like a sexist prick but Voyager is great because of Jeri Ryan. She even makes that eye thing look hot. It's also a nice suprise to have her actual voice in the Voyager Elite Force games.
Voyager, ehh... I don't think I can remember a single episode, I honestly only watched it to oogle Jeri Ryan.

I really enjoyed DS9 though, even bought some of the comics. Been meaning to rewatch that for the longest time now but never get around to it.

Elmofongo: You know there was a time I actually liked the Prequels, I never thought they were bad. Until the internet showed me the light and I saw it again (I own the DVDs) and I was like........Ergh I will never look at the Prequels the same way again, thanks alot internet.

And yes the Original Trilogy was awesome.
Did you watch the Plinkett reviews or was there an intervention?

His name is Neelix. He is mostly intolerable. Star Trek's track record with comedy has been ... dubious at best. There were some good jokes and even some good comedic episodes. However, most of the time, the "humour" if you wanna call it that, feels really forced and kinda stiff. It's not surprising then that a mostly comedic Trek character is anything but funny.

Then there's the rest of the cast, which is one of the show's major problems. They're incredibly bland for the most part. I watched the entire show, and Chakotay, Harry Kim, B'elanna Torres, Kes (most of the time at least) and Tom Paris are simply not interesting, and they hardly develop as characters throughout the entire show. IMO, those guys can't hold a candle to the DS9 cast. Heck, even the supporting cast on DS9 were more interesting to me than most of the Voyager crew. The only characters I genuinely liked on VOY were the Doc and Seven of Nine.

What else is wrong with it? In a nutshell, It mostly felt like a poor man's TNG with a lot of potential wasted in favor of playing it safe. Whenever Voyager introduced something that was new and exciting, the show writers almost never really used it. There a lot of good ideas in the show that ultimately led nowhere, unfortunately. DS9 is flawed, to be sure, but at least the authors had the courage to try something different.

Having said all this, if you're in 3rd season, then you are about to see some of VOYs best episodes, which are genuinely good. Look forward to "Scorpion" and many other good episodes in season 4.

F4LL0UT: Well, for one note that most WWII movies aren't just historically accurate. They often include non-sensical stuff to underline the EVIL nature of "the other guys", just so the audience is more willing to identify with the protagonists. Even in those films which supposedly try to present both sides critically usually the status quo is "allies = heroes, nazis/Japanese = monsters" and any more advanced thoughts are expressed through additional scenes which are often very badly thought out. Same goes for the depiction of the EVIL Russians/Soviets. The truth is that the average guy doesn't seem to mind when Hollywood or a western game developer demonizes his nation. In fact most people I know enjoy satirical or just ignorant depictions of their nation. Most of my German friends love shooting Germans in WWII games or super evil Germans in motion pictures, my brother has lots of Russian friends and taught at a school there, they all seemed to love Freedom Fighters and Red Alert. Also first time I played Vice City was during a student exchange program in France - when a stereotypical French guy made an appearance in one mission my French buddies laughed their balls of. I don't know how Americans deal with that kind of stuff (apparently not so well considering the outrage when Epic's Chinese department announced its shooter where you play as Chinese soldiers and Americans are the bad guys) but the fact of the matter is that Europeans aren't very sensitive about that kind of stuff.
I thought shooting up marines was one of the highlights of Half Life. The portrayal of USA as 'God's country' gets kind of old.

What's the shooter called?

If I may jump on a tangent and agree with you (hope this isn't trolling); I love the U.S. and I love living here but this "God's country" crap has GOT TO GO. People who see the U.S. as "God's country" obviously never picked up a history book or read that ummmm, what is it called, the ummmmm, hmmmmmm....oh yeah: THE United States CONSTITUTION!!! Seriously, if I wanna live in gods country I'll move to the Vatican.
I'd like to see them games on GOG.
