Denezan: I don't know if I should facepalm at this or what. Introducing Khan Noonien Singh into this. Dear lord what are they doing to my Trek? :( To be honest, the people who make these films need to get themselves an original idea instead of all these remakes.
Total recall = pure garbage to anyone who has seen the original.
Transformers = sexy CGI but abysmal story (Autobot's tearing a decepticon apart horror film style? Yeah right)
Garfield = seriously?
Star Trek = has its moments of comedic value, but other than that, it blows the big one.
The Chipmunks = oh dear god make it stop.
Do I need to add anymore?
It is so bad even The Smurfs was remade. Come on already, enough is enough.
Agreed - the sad thing is that you can clearly see that in many of the new remakes the director and the script writer and whoever is in the cutting office clearly don't have the original theme/style/story/atmosphere of the series in their interests.
They want something new, different and their own, but insist upon slaving it to an already established interest market via the title. So what we get is a horrible mishmash of two incompatible things that never make it into its own identity and which also never really lives up to the past.
A few are worth it - others (most) are not.
Heck even the good remakes like Battlestar Galactica would be, in my view, stronger if they were not trying to use the old ideas/titles and just did their own thing and left the old series behind. Yeah people would see the influence, but honestly it would make for a stronger new series that could have its own identity.
