Any Gog Star Trek fans here?

The popular Armada 2 mod FleetOps will be getting it's own engine in v4 (so it no longer needs the armada disc). This is literally one of the best mods I have ever seen done. A project to watch if your looking for a awesome RTS Star Trek game free of DRM and free in price.

I'd love for GOG to get Star Trek Armada 1 and 2. Don't they both have difficulties running on 64-bit Vista and 7 though? No idea about 8.
I loved Armada, still have it somewhere but it doesn't like Vista IIRC. Though i did find an old laptop with XP on it but the battery is fucked, still worked with the charger from the other laptop.

I thought about getting Armada 2 when it was released iirc but its expensive as hell to get a copy these days or at least was last time i looked.

If this mod could let me play Armada 2 finally id be very happy
best ever-> http://www.netrek.org/

someone should make HD edition of this. This was so fan back in school 15 years ago or so, playing with like almost 2 dozen people.
Version 4 of FleetOps won't need Armada 2 at all, hopefully it comes this year. It will basically be an indie now instead of a mod.

I do know the FleetOps team had a patch for Armada 2 to fix OS issues and to give the game wide screen support but it is no longer being worked as the FleetOps mod does all of that.

If you have the Armada 2 disc right now you can play FleetOps version 3 which includes support for Windows 8. Its a huge difference to vanilla Armada 2.

But what if you want to play vanilla Armada 2, and so only need the fixes for Vista and maybe widescreen? Are those fixes still available anywhere?

You got 2 options...

You can install fleet ops and then get a classic mod for it that is basically Armada 2 (some have updated graphics) with all the engine fixes that fleet ops provides.

OR

You can get unofficial patch 1.2.5 from FileFront. This was the last one they did I believe. I'm not sure if it includes wide-screen support... but it does include fixes for Vista.

You mean that version 4 was stand alone or that you have never heard of FleetOps?
Cool. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm want to have some Star Trek fix, but most games are hard to find :(

Most of the official Star Trek games aren't that good... only a few really stand out. FleetOps and the ST Excalibur Project (http://www.stexcalibur.com/) are the best ones you will find that are free and look amazing.

Quite a few of the adventure games are good, and I remember liking the Elite Force games (though that could be nostalgia).
The first Elite Force game is a decent FPS, never played the second.

The second is pretty good.

I have fond memories of Birth of the federation and Starfleet Academy too.
