It's different, and a bit of branding. That's what this is about.

The installer seems simple enough, I like it.

Surprised it doesn't break on my end (XP with WindowBlinds and big fonts), but I tend to agree. While I think a custom design is appropriate for a game installer, disabling keyboard controls (or as in this case, making them invisible) is not. It's not a major bug, but something that should be fixed at some point.

Do you really care THAT much?
Are those 2 seconds that you require to move your hand over to the mouse and click on the buttons THAT important to you?

Just because you wouldn't use it doesn't mean that the option shouldn't be available. It's like telling a left-handed person to deal with right-hand exclusive controls in a FPS.

Not really, I tend to use the mouse on most installers... but it is a minor, easy bug, so what's so bad about wanting to see it fixed?
A bug report is not something negative... if it were, then Firefox would be in deep trouble, with around 500.000 filed bugs (bug in Mozilla-lingo means "something that needs to be discussed", not necessarily an error) ... but most of these were filed by people like me, who just want the product to be perfect. Same here.

Yes, there is an unfortunate tendency on this board to view constructive criticism as something negative, rather than positive. The point of giving constructive criticism here is to make GOG as good as it can possibly be, but some people tend to have knee-jerk fanboy rections. "Nooo, he's implying our beloved GOG is less than perfect! Kill the blasphemer!" (example exaggerated for clarity).
Nothing is perfect, okay? The best we can do is to try and contribute to making it better all the time. Can't we all agree on that?

Native UI buttons would be nice, though I can see the branding perspective. OTOH, the installer makes up for it by being one of the most intuitive and simple I've seen in a long time. No clicking through pages of install options, just one button to agree and install everything.

Yeah I'm not trying to insinuate that GOG made the right decision or anything.
I'm arguing against BOTH extremes of this argument.

To me, it's like REALLY? I mean, I tried to hit the tab button a few times myself, but never once did I think "God damnit! They should really let me tab!"
I simply moved my hand to my mouse and clicked through the installer, not giving it a second thought.

Yes, but as TheKreep says, they tend to form rather extreme opinions.
Personally, I like the installer. I think it looks nice. At the same time, I think it should conform to standard Windows functionality such as tabstops.
But in the end, I'm with TheKreep on this. It's an installer, so I don't really give it much thought.

Sometimes there are reasons to prefer the keyboard over the mouse - ever had an input device (mouse, trackpad, etc.) break on a weekend when you can't get a replacement? Or maybe a broken/sprained finger that makes it painful and/or hard to use a mouse?
To me this issue is mostly about freedom of choice - with the usual installers can use whatever input is most convenient (I tend to Alt-N my way through them) while the GOG installers assume that you have no issues using a mouse, can see/read medium-to-low-contrast buttons and use the default 96dpi Windows resolution.

If you, for some reason, can't use a mouse, then you won't be able to play most of the games here anyway, so what's the point of installing them?
I'm not saying your argument is a bad one, I'm just saying... Hell, I don't know what I'm saying. After all, I think it should conform to standard functionality too on principle, although I don't think they should change the visual style.

Proposed Fix:
Highlighted "buttons" ought to inverse colors to allow for a very noticeable selection change.
Done, next?
