doccarnby: Pretty much, yeah. As far as The Zone is concerned, the world ended.
You know what, I'm going to make a localised apocalypse in my toilet. it's time to poo.

Elmofongo: Really beecaue the setting is Chernobyl after the nuclear disater and mutants all over the place and people trying to survive, that sounds post apocalyptic to :P
avatar
keeveek: bro, you know what the world apocalypse mean? Just because there are mutants around, it doesn't mean the world ended.

keeveek: Pocket apocalypse that fits in your handbag, in your local store, avaible NOW!
Well you would argue that Fallout is not completely the end of the world because I am pretty sure the missles did not hit every piece of landscape in the world, I am sure there are hospitable Islands and spaces in continants that are untouched by the missles.

Is that the Great Deku Tree's tropical cousin?

I'm pretty sure that after nuclear war on the scale that you can see in Fallout, radioactive particles that would be in the air would make sure to kill everything, everywhere.

After all radioactivity from Fukushima was able to get all the way to Europe.

And the death toll in Europe due to the Fukushima Radioacivity?
Can't say anything about Metro simply because I don't own enough powerful hardware just yet to be able to run those games with a decent video quality and frame rate, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are some of the best you can get. Period.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Just trust me!

If you can run CoP, you should be able to run Metro with some tweaking I'd think

One thing I will note, Metro has some terrible options. What DirectX version do you want and do you want Low, Medium or High? You can't really change any of the settings. Do you want everything but, let's say, SSAO? Nope!

1) There was no casualties even in Fukushima. It wasn't that big malfunction.
2) Tens of thousands nuclear bombs > one malfunctioning reactor.
3) In Fallout nuclear explosions were all around the globe, so distance between any island would be much smaller than distance from Fukushima to Europe (9500 km).

Yeah I seem to remember that - but i think there were some tweaks and workarounds?!
I prefer S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but those games are so buggy I've only finished the first one and it was the bad ending.
I recommend STALKER personally, although people here seem to recommend both STALKER and Metro. Neither of them are bad. Stalker is an open world though, and you spend less time underground, which suits me perfectly.

Well, I can play Call of Pripyat almost on highest graphics setting, but it's not really that much demanding game especially compared to Clear Sky which can occasionally lag on my system even on lowest settings - so I've put it on my backlog for now.

I even have Metro 2033 in my Steam library, the thing is I'd rather wait till I get a new rig than put few hours into it with everything set on medium-low only to see how it gets more choppy as the shooting gets more and more intense.

i found the motion blur to be the worst for lag on metro - also was really bad for causing motion sickness.

yeah, clear sky was horribly put togther as far as that goes - though some of the mods evened it out.

On that note, looking forward to the Lost Alpha mod myself
