I usually don't like creating new threads but I wasn't able to find anything on this problem.
Well, there was(is) the amazing Stalker sale on gamersgate.com so I thought I would give that service a try (first time I purchase something there) and get all Stalkers.
After downloading Shadow of Chernobyl and installing it I saw the version number is 1.0000.
I couldn't find any patch on the site and the "Digital Distribution" patch (1.0005) released by GSC Gameworld doesn't work either...
Anyone with Stalker on gamersgate could help me out? Well I could try to install the worldwide patch but then I would need a nocd patch to get it to work, which is kinda stupid.

I don't have stalker but I have other games from GG. Any patches for game should be listed next to game entry in your 'my games', something like this:
Crusader Kings
Patches Registry fix for patches
Manuals Manual
Links Official Website
Crusader Kings Deus Vult
Serial keys 1: *removed*
Manuals Manual
etc. or does game have some sort of autoupdate feature?
Gamersgate usually supply the games as the latest versions, or have links to patches in the "My Games" area (below serial numbers etc.)
I also bought the stalker games, but they don't seem to have any available patches.
I've attached a pic of examples for Men of War and Mount and Blade.
Attachments:
If I'm not mistaken, if Gamersgate does not explicitly provide a patch download, then the standard retail patch will work. Have you tried that?

see attachment what the page looks like. Only serials and links to the websites, that's all :(

Nope it doesn't.

Well, the cd check hasn't been patched out so I will most likely be unable to start the game. But ok I will try it anyway.

Nope it doesn't.

Then go to stalker website and download the 1.0005 patch from there and see if it works.
I'd contact their support. Either the game is fully patched already, but for whatever reason this isn't reflected in the version number, or the patches simply aren't showing up in your games page on their site.
Either way, it's something that only they can solve. You NEED those patches though, seriously. I don't think you can even complete the main quest without it.
By the way, why exactly did the generic DD patch not work?
Yeah, let GamersGate know if none of the patches work and they'll look into it. Worst case scenario, they'll pull the game from sale if they can't get a patch that works. If you have Twitter, that'll be fastest way to let them know.
Ok, this is why one should never just assume that something won't work! Unbelievable, the us retail patch indeed works! No cd check, no DRM. I'm baffled.
Thanks guys for keeping up with me, I shouldn't be so impulsive next time. Star goes to Mentalepsy :)

The first thing I did was contacting support but haven't heard back (well I didn't send a mail that long ago so...) it's still weird this information is nowhere to find on the site... or is it? (being cautious now :P)

Well, I dug around in the FAQ, and found this information:

Mentalepsy: Patches
To patch your game you will need a patch for a digital version of the game. A patch for a disc version will not work. We are trying to always have the latest patches availible in the My Games section but if you think there is a patch missing, please contact us about it and we will acquire it from the developers.
I found a patch at the games official website and now the game is asking for a CD.
You can only use patches made for download versions. If the developer do not provide such patch and you think your game need the patch, please contact support@gamersgate.com about it. Include information about what game it is and the name of the patch you think we need to add. Please note, that it may take time to produce and acquire a patch, and that customer support has a main priority set to answering e-mails about problems, yet still your request will be transferred and handled after it is received and read.

I was pretty sure I read somewhere that GG doesn't host a patch if the retail patch will work, but I don't know where - it may have been an email from support. Honestly I'm a bit surprised as well; if there's a separate DD patch available, there's usually a reason for it, so it's weird that the DD patch doesn't work in this case.
Support doesn't work weekends, so you probably won't get a response until Monday at the earliest, but they're usually very helpful. They will actually read your ticket the first time.

I think they usually only mention stuff like that in the My Games section when it's absolutely necessary.

Gamersgate is special in that you get the original DVD/CD installer, so it looks like you installed a retail copy of the game.
Either way they should at least have this information on the "My Games" page with a link to the retail patches me thinks.

Yeah, I replied to support ticket with how I solved it and also suggested to put that sort of information on the Download page.

I consider it absolutely necessary for very stupid people :P

By the way, if you're not already aware of them, I would highly recommend the Complete and Realistic Weapons mods. I had trouble getting into Stalker until I installed these mods; the complete mod does a lot to clean up the game and smooth out the rough edges without really "changing" the game, and the realistic weapons mod makes firearms suitably dangerous.

Yep, that was my plan. I already played through Stalker once and then halfway through with Complete 1.4.3 (owned it retail limited edition and Steam). Would you recommend the realistic weapons add-on?
I'm not too fond of very realistic ballistics and such, and from the comments it seems that it's a way to "screw around" in the game if you get what I mean.
