heh.

*tries to smile*

no, not even bad puns can make this day anything other than crushing for me.

*goes off to cry in a corner*

Seriously, though, the STALKER games were basically the only FPS series I was putting any hope in, and hearing that it's dead is a major letdown.
:'(
Stalker 1 is probably my favorite FPS ever, but when they said Stalker 2 would be cross platform I had already given up hope that it would be as good because of severe console limitations. Maybe that was part of why the game got shut down - the sandbox element was what made Stalker and from what I heard, the console version would need much smaller connected areas which sounds horrible.

But the first two games were basically already made of smaller interconnected areas.

Those were reasonably large areas. If you thought those were small, with consoles you'd have to imagine stamp size. Seriously, console memory limitations are THE biggest limitation they have right now and it's the reason why so many great console games are merely great and not brilliant. Like how cars would disappear when you turn around in GTA IV.

I guess now that you mention it the areas in STALKER were pretty huge compared to what you get in most console games.
Oh man i bought stalker shadows of chernobyl yesterday :-(
:'(
Manly tears are flowing down my cheeks. I have looked forward to stalker 2 since hearing about it. SoC was a masterpiece.

wormholewizards: No giant publisher willing to acquire their studio?
Or even any smaller ones, maybe one from a similar neck of the wood, like Poland, for example...

Yes, that one. I'm sure they can take good care of GSC.
Hope the game somehow will live on. A new stalker game would be amazing

Bad news really. Was looking forward to the next installment.
