Just skin? Ehh. Hadn't heard of that kind of delicacy before, but I think I will pass. I'll let the weird southeners keep that to themselves. I like my pig in the form of bacon, ham, steak or ribs but that's sufficient, thank you very much.

I'd say that was a slight overreaction. A couple of non-native speakers may have genuinely misinterpreted your post, but most of us were just pulling your leg. Nice gesture, though, I'm sure you made that person happy. :)

Bacon and pork rinds are almost the same thing, I believe....just prepared differently/from different parts of the pig skin/etc.

That's also common in Spain, you can get it in pretty much every bar or grocery store.
