P1na: they lost my interest at "console". A pity.
Yeah, after getting some ports of their old stuff it seems that Square are suddenly going out of their way to make sure everyone knows that the PC is getting snubbed with this new one, oh well we might get a port I suppose in, like, TEN YEARS TIME!
In the meantime we'll just have to content with the recycled, reheated scraps from their table, I guess, joy!
Square Enix might do better if they didn't decide to limit their games to specific handhelds that games didn't belong... Crisis Core for example probably would have done fine as a PS2 game, or PS3... but now it's only on the PSP... And I refuse to get a PSP... Why should I have to have a tiny handheld and tiny screen and new dedicated hardware for something I already have much better & more powerful hardware for?

Time to lose total faith in that company, and to think they had very loyal fans and gamers backing them. Haven't seen anything good from them for years, even Tomb Raider I thought was merely a decent game, and not more...

Square only has 3 years left... not before they die or anything; But rather in my mind their loyal fanbase just moves on/gives up and they are stuck with only the newer generation that never touched their game, and won't be impressed with the PS4 ported version of FF7...

if push comes to shove and you really want to play crisis core you coudl get a playstation tv
ie a vita and psp bunged in to one which allows you to play games ona big screen

its a machine i am tempted by even though i agree square screwed the pooch

crisis core should have been a ps2 or 3 game and it would have been a huge succes might even drown out the calls of ff 7 remakes because its as close to a ff 7 remake or sequel as possible

but this isnt the first time square went loopy and spread a series all over the place
kingdom hearts their other big series is a nightmare
1 and 2 are on the ps2 okay fine

then chain of memories which si set between 1 and 2 on the gba

then code which is a episode game for japanese mobiel phones only

then 358/2 days for the DS

then birth by sleep a prequel for the psp

and then dream drop distance for the 3DS

...what in the actual fuck square you think you missed a platform yet ?! ( xbox and pc )

its blood ridicilous thata series is so spread out over so many platforms and most fo them are handhelds to boot
because there is nothing more i enjoy then sitting hunched over a sodding ds to grind my way through an rpg

urgh

Elmofongo: I never wanted a Final Fantasy 7 remake. Infact I am quite content with the game as is now.

rtcvb32: Good news then! Square Enix put FF7 on the PS4.... from the PC port....

If you watch the crowd reaction, it goes from wild, to meh when you see it's unchanged...

edit: Also to note they are going to sell it for $16... Quite a few people are saying Square Enix are trolling us...
My brother already showed me reactions from this guy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoV27HhwuR4

Anyway yeah its rather dumb. But still I just cannot see Final Fantasy VII being completely remade with a completely different gameplay style. Do the fans want it remade with a Kingdom Hearts like Combat System or the Upcoming Final Fantasy XV?

I would not mind it playing like Final Fantasy XII though.

Speaking of Kingdom Hearts I am playing the HD PS3 version of Kingdom Hearts II in the hopes my purchase of the game will influance Square to release Final Fantasy XII HD for PS3/PS4 in tip-top shape.

Final Fantasy XII is my absolute favorite game in the series in terms of gameplay (the story as is is ok Ivalice has quite the lore)

i dont actually have a "favorite"final fantasy
they are j rpgs and as such require grinding and i loath grinding

a better question would be which one do i dislike the least

i dislike 9 (zidane and steiner absolutley annoy me )

i absolutley hate 10 ( bland characters annoying protagonist abysmal voice acting insipid story high price tag letter boxed running slower and 2 years late are my reasons )

i dont care for 11 or 12

least said about 13 the better

i am indifferent about 1 2 3 and 5

i think 6 is over rated and i cant really take kefka seriously

so that leaves 4 7 and 8

i like the mechanics from 8 the best but the story is pants and squal is an unlikable git cloud driven up to the most obnoxious degree
the characters aroudn him are much more interesting and i have to dive in to the squall is dead theory to make the arse story believable

i recently bought the pc port of the ds version of ff 4 via humble bundle
and so far i dont hate it
...save game editing and stat shennaigans so that i dont have to grind probably help there

and finally final fantasy 7
nostlagia only gets you this far and the nostalgia goggles do absolutley nothing
i dont hate 7 but i dont sing its praise either ambivalent is the best word i'd choose

so ff 8 it is then

and if wondering no ff 7 is not the first ( j ) rpg i played its the fourth
secret of mana on the snes was the first and as a result i like that one best

The sad thing is Final Fantasy 9 is actually my absoulute favorite out of the 3 PS1 final fantasies (well Final Fantasy Tactics is ahead of 9) at least Zidane is not a whiny bitch and actually has balls.

Final Fantasy 1 is a simple game. No grand story or even characters just you playing 4 random adventures and go on an adventure to stop evil.

My brother loves the Junction system of Final Fantasy 8.

Final Fantasy 4 is one of the better games, but near the end of the game it gets painfully grindy near the end that you have to level up to a certain point to be ready for the endgame content such as leveling up Rydia to say level 70 (or something) to learn the Flare spell, I am assuming you are playing the 3D remake to which I say, BAH HUMBUG, play the 2D one, its just better and faster especially the PSP version.

zidane in ff 9 just annoys me
but steiner is the one that infuriates me the most he has his head so far up his ass he doesnt see reality and that gets grating after a while

i honestly never cared much for 9 so unless it gets a re release out side of psn i doubt ill ever play it

ff 1 is probably too simple

i like the junction system and draw system in ff8 because as far as i am concerned it makes sense
here i dont have to grind for hours to level up a few measly levels i can juggle and mutate my stats the way i want them too
yes there is still a grind but at least i have more control

ill stick with the 3d ds port of ff 4 along with save game editing
no grinding and i might end up liking it ...a bit

though honestly id rather be playing secret of mana front mission 3 or parasite eve then a final fantasy title

I assume Final Fantasy 4 3D will have the same amount of grindyness as the 2D version. The only difference its that its 3D and has voice acting.

Final Fantasy 11 is regarded as the most painful, grindy MMORPG ever, and notorious for having one of the most bullshit MMO bosses ever. 1 of them has so much health it would take more than 18 hours to kill. (Yeah it happened, Square patched it so that it takes 2 hours)

Final Fantasy XII I recommend. People compare Vaan to Tidus but at least Vaan is not as whiny and his complaints actually does make sense and is sympetheic, He blames the Empire for the death of his Brother who was in the resistance. The thing is XII could have been an even better game as it was originally visioned, Basch or Baltheir was gonna be the protaginists.
Let's hope it's good new instead of more alright news.

hence the save game chicanery i alluded too
no grinding tomfoolery for me in ff 4

gee just 2 hours that helps
i tend to stray far far far aawy from mmo's because fo their grindy mechanics and bullshit fetch quest
oh joy now i can trek across the fucking map again in the other direction to deliver this lump of useless ore to a smith !
whoo ! gameplay !

i tried 12 but i couldnt really get in to it
i only got the pc version of 13 because im hoping modders can fix that mess

Elmofongo: Do the fans want it remade with a Kingdom Hearts like Combat System or the Upcoming Final Fantasy XV?

Can I ask of your favorite FF game?
It would have the same system it's originally made with, or with how Crisis core is set up.

As for my personal favorite... Hmmm...Don't know... Haven't [s]played[/s] beaten a good number of them. I've beaten 7, x, x-2, 12, 13, 13-2... I've played 2 & 6... Probably 12 at this moment.

Maybe the fans don't really want FF7 remade, rather it's the Materia system they want. The Materia system was well done, customizable, wonderful, swappable, felt a little like programming by adding attributes from one material type to change it's functionality without changing it's cost (Like adding All to Cure to heal everyone).

FF-12 was similar, where you could effectively give everyone a series of priorities based on states and conditions which made them act for the most part very intelligently if done right, or stupidly if you gave them some bad instructions. Some of the abilities were stupid, not because the idea wasn't good but because in practice you couldn't take advantage of it properly. Course I hated Vaan, but otherwise loved everyone else.
My personal favourite is 5, I love the level of customization for your characters and the mix of strategy to have the right jobs at the right time.

Back on topic for a moment: They've announced a new SaGa game (first one in 11 years!) but it's on the Vita, which is only a home console if you count the Playstation TV. Guess we're still waiting on the news mentioned in the OP.
