CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference live tomorrow at 5:00 PM GMT

People say it is not spring until you can plant your foot upon twelve daisies. GOG.com has proven otherwise, and you knew it’s spring after eight daisies already: Legend of Grimrock, Treasure Adventure Game, Trine, The Whispered World, Machinarium, Wing Commander 4, Spacechem, and Darwinia. However, as many a sudden change takes place on a spring day, we’re about to reveal another four amazing daisies tomorrow during CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference.

The harvest of a whole year depends on what you sow in the springtime. And this year, oh boy, we’re into some serious sowing. During CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference we will:
* tell you what has changed on GOG.com in case you missed it
* offer a sneak peek at future GOG.com releases
* give you a special gift as a big, sweet “thank you” to our users

Remember that those who arrive to the spring first, drink the purest water-- or
Remember that spring won't come from one flower--we need plenty of you to watch the CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference!

TheEnigmaticT: Now we've *also* given away Fallout for free; we knew that some people (many of you, actually) would already have this game, but such a huge majority of you do not. I'm sorry if you guys are unhappy about this, but we've literally done everything we could to make sure that no one would feel that they hadn't gotten something from GOG to reward them for being part of our growth and success.
It's ok.

Even if I have the game, I get to be a good friend and email all my friends to tell them there is a freebie, for which they are grateful.

Btw, not that I don't care about the Witcher (I have the first one), but at which point in the video do they start talking about GOG?

@EnigmaticT - I'm also in the category of people that already bought Witcher 2 on GOG and bought Fallout 1 ( & 2 & 3 & NV & backed Wasteland) elsewhere, so maybe it would be a good idea to do a survey next time of classic games that GOG users already own from other sources.. then you'd have a clearer idea of how well your gifts may be received.

Regardless.. I am very grateful for the free expansion to Witcher 2 that you guys will be giving us with the EE edition. You could easily have profited from this by making it DLC, so kudos to you for such a great free gift! : )
I think that you should make a resume of the conference, as for us non english native speakers it's difficult to follow it for a whole hour...
I also have fallout but if gifting it serves to attract more costumers to gog, I don't feel offended.

It's WONDERFUL that GOG has gifted Fallout. Bravo for your choice, GOG team.
I'm just amazed that 90% people didn't have the game already. It was imperative to entice them all in discovering Fallout.

To all new comers to this wonderful RPG, be aware that there is a time limit for finishing the first quest (150 days). You miss it and it's game over, that was the only real flaw of Fallout 1. So concentrate first on finding the Water Chip, and after that you'll have all the time you want for wandering the wasteland. (Perhaps there is a patch to remove the time limit somewhere, though I couldn't locate one...)

Not much that isn't discussed in the news rss (except for the Witcher part).

They start talking about GOG at around 35 minutes into the video.

I actually don't think it is a flaw, it pushes the player do the somthing in the start, unlike many games, that just drop you with nothing in middle of no where telling you : "Find X."
Here at least you got time, which makes you actually want to get it and fast....

Anyway, it is a great game, be sure to read the manual though, as the game will not explain you what to do (in fashion of games from that time).

But I'd also like to add that the time limit is actually quite generous (and can be relatively easily extended in case you run into trouble), so exploring the wasteland to a moderate extent is perfectly possible (and actually required). Just use your save slots wisely and you should be fine.

But yes, that's the single greatest design flaw of Fallout. The limit sounds a lot more intimidating than it has to.

TheEnigmaticT: Also we just gave *everyone* a free game. All of you. New fans. Old. No matter how many games from our catalog you had, Treasure Adventure Game was a free retro thanks from us to you.
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth since I appreciate you guys adding games to GOG for free download and a great Kudos for Fallout, even though i already owned the game, but comparing a game as Treasure Adventure Game to Fallout is not quite the same I'd say. Treasure Adventure Game is a Freeware game that I can download legally for free by googling the title off the Robit Studio's Website. The other is an actual commercial release.

Although i do believe you mentioned something of attaching about $0.99-$1.99 value to the freeware selection as something you could realistically have charged for the game + goodies. And I recognize that bandwidth is not free ^^ (nor publicity xD)

Ok! I didn't plan do comment on this, but this is now the drop!

That crappy game is a thanks for your customers? It crashes like hell and is available for free download anyway. So where is the thanks in that?

There wouldn't be so many complains about the free Fallout if you wouldn't *sell it* as a gift to your loyal customers. Well, what I see is that your "loyal" customers which buy many games from you didn't get anything again, and that is what is pissing your "loyal" customers off.

hedwards: But, at least this time we've got an explanation of why they couldn't give an alternate game for previous owners. A large part of the problem last time was that they ignored the people who were left out of the giveaway and allowed it to start to fester without addressing it at all.

TheEnigmaticT: We did address it last time, actually, but perhaps that got lost in the noise. Also we just gave *everyone* a free game. All of you. New fans. Old. No matter how many games from our catalog you had, Treasure Adventure Game was a free retro thanks from us to you.

Apparently it was lost in the noise. I was somewhat puzzled why there was no particular statement about it and it being lost in the noise makes far more sense.

It's not so much that we're unhappy about it as the people most likely to be left out are more likely to have been big supports of the site in the first place. And it didn't really make much sense to encourage people to think twice before buying a game that they might not have time to play for 6 months.
Sadly I lost my coin :(
awww. look. look at the entitlement. Someone else got a free game which i have so i am angry. whaaaa. watch me whine.

we see disappointment that the free stuff is not useful for some people. good argument. aww shiut no freebies for me today.

but the amount of "you guys are shitting on your old fans because you give us only fallout 1 while every fan should already own it. and because those steam Lusers also get free gog copy while true fans would already have it so they gain NOTHING!" is just pathetic.

there is just no words how i abhor some of you now.

anyway
thx for fall 1. i never purchased it on gog as i already own it on cd (twice) so that is nice addition. also means i have to buy 2 other falls because of that... damnit it.

second question is... since i own Polish CE of TW2 retail how can i get a gog version? i missed that piece of info in comments and i also did not watch the stream (work baby. Good Friday pay is awesome pay)

Go to www.gog.com/witcherbackup on the 17th of April. You should be able to drop in your key and get your free copy. ;)

That's very classy of you. So, you got yours and those that feel left out are somehow bad people for complaining about being left out? Not to mention the gall of them to buy games and support the site. I mean, my word, what's next, they demand support when something goes wrong with the game.

Are you even listening to yourself?
