CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference live tomorrow at 5:00 PM GMT

People say it is not spring until you can plant your foot upon twelve daisies. GOG.com has proven otherwise, and you knew it’s spring after eight daisies already: Legend of Grimrock, Treasure Adventure Game, Trine, The Whispered World, Machinarium, Wing Commander 4, Spacechem, and Darwinia. However, as many a sudden change takes place on a spring day, we’re about to reveal another four amazing daisies tomorrow during CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference.

The harvest of a whole year depends on what you sow in the springtime. And this year, oh boy, we’re into some serious sowing. During CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference we will:
* tell you what has changed on GOG.com in case you missed it
* offer a sneak peek at future GOG.com releases
* give you a special gift as a big, sweet “thank you” to our users

Remember that those who arrive to the spring first, drink the purest water-- or
Remember that spring won't come from one flower--we need plenty of you to watch the CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference!

hedwards: That's very classy of you. So, you got yours and those that feel left out are somehow bad people for complaining about being left out? Not to mention the gall of them to buy games and support the site. I mean, my word, what's next, they demand support when something goes wrong with the game.

Are you even listening to yourself?
Do you listen to yourself?

Just look at some of people in your camp if i may say that. Complaining about not getting free stuff? Really? Not being upset that this time they missed on freebies but complaining? What kind of frigging entitlement do you have?
To say that GOG is shitting on their fans because they give TW2 gog version for non-gog holders of TW2 and giving out free games?
you say you can complain about THAT?!

Mate. just look how pathetic self-entitled that is. to complain about not getting free stuff you wanted.

Yes, and of the two of us, there's precisely one that's being reasonable.

I'll give you a hint, it's not you. You're the one that's making all sorts of insulting comments and generally behaving poorly.

It upsets me how low people can act.

Tell me...

how can you complain that a company gave you a gift which is not very useful to you? how can you consider it as a offence?

where is the logic in that. I just cannot grasp how self-entitled you are. GOG gives out freebies and you dare to complain, you demand more. like something such a free games are your right?

instead of being happy that some people get a great game, or get superior version of TW2, instead of supporting the idea so next time you get something which you like more you whine whine whine.

Gave me a gift? They didn't give me anything, what you're saying makes absolutely no sense as I didn't receive anything at all. Which is sort of the point, this isn't a matter of them giving a key ring to people without any keys or an audio CD to somebody without a means of playing it.

But, whatever, I have better things to do with my time than argue with an obvious troll.
avatar
hedwards: It's not so much that we're unhappy about it as the people most likely to be left out are more likely to have been big supports of the site in the first place. And it didn't really make much sense to encourage people to think twice before buying a game that they might not have time to play for 6 months.
See, this puts us in a difficult place; do we give a game away that will make 90% of our users very happy, give away another game that none of our users already own (and which is really fun), and hope that the folks who didn't get the free Fallout will understand? Do we just stop negotiating these at all, because some of you will be upset no matter what?

The overlap for people who bought Broken Sword, Empire Earth, and Fallout is minuscule. Of course, almost all of the people who *do* own the whole catalog hang out here on the forums, so the population of gamers who can chime in here and say, "I've gotten nothing in the last three giveaways" is going to look unrepresentationally high. I don't have an easy way to run that comparison--I would need the devs to do direct SQL queries on a live DB, which is rather not what we need on a website that's still under a lot of load--but I'd guess that the only folks who owned all three are going to tend to be mostly the folks who own our entire catalog. We literally can't negotiate to gift them anything.

We've consistently thanked you guys with each of these three giveaways; they're all gifts to you. Whether you got two games, or three, or one, I would hope you understand that thank you, and that you'll be happy for the others who get a free game as well, even if you already have it.

Saying, "Hey, if you already own this game we'll pay for a different gift for you out of pocket" is financially not possible for us. Would you rather that no one gets a thank you than some tiny fraction of a percent of users don't end up getting something from us in thanks over the last 6 months?

im not a troll by any means of that definition. that makes no sense. you might call me other names of course but that does not fit.

you got Fallout. You already got it? good for you.
You get an option to put your TW2 game here in your gog shelf? already have that? good for you.

you don't lose. your position doesn't change then. you just miss on free stuff. and you complain about not getting free stuff?

do you spit on a girl in supermarket who gives away candy just because she gives away wrong candy?

TheEnigmaticT: snip
just stop giving away games then. why upset people who already got the game before right?

In the future, make Megarace 3 or VR Soccer as a thank you giveaway for your loyal customer. 99.9% of GOG fanbase not own the game. Let see whether there will be some upset customer.

Not the whole catalogue, but I already had Broken Sword and Empire Earth when you gave it away, and I already have Fallout, so I won't get free copy for you.

And I really can't imagine how I could be upset about not getting it free, and I really don't want to make a judge about people who are angry about that. I would use some strong words, and I think I shouldn't.

Thanks guys, I hope you get many new GOGers, and please some old customers with it too.

TET next time give a free wallpaper of you eating pizza/cake and that will make everybody happy and nobody will have that :D

I am one of the guys that don't own Fallout on GOG and I'm a happy camper because of this gesture :)

And btw you should put back 2 old titles a week calendar on your wall :) This will make more people happy :)

I realize that, the only reason why I posted the last couple was that it's gotten ridiculous with some of the GOG fanbois that would prefer to completely sweep things under the rug.

Of course you're right, but it doesn't make Lukas' comments any more reasonable or any less trollish.

I know your joking, but giving away a cheap couple extra wallpapers or avatars to everybody when they do a giveaway would probably more or less eliminate the hurt feelings. Or at least that's what I've gotten from when this came up the last few times. I don't recall anybody much complaining about Broken sword and that one included an upgraded version for everybody. That's not likely to be realistic for other games, but a gesture would probably do wonders.

You called them fanbois, not sure who try to troll here.

Something along those lines is likely doable, and may will mitigate any upset people next time. I'll keep it in mind if we do another one of these giveaways.

No I'm not joking at all. You do realize that GOG is not Valve and they don't have 50mil $ in the bank to give to ppl like that right?
A gift is a gift no matter is it a Wallpaper/Avatar/Funny Video or a Game.

For most of the ppl complaining about Fallout or every other game that GOG gave for free...it is just "Why I paid for the game that everybody recieved for free now"

Let us see now... Steam gaveaway what on Christmas? Coupons?Coal? How much free games they gave to the customers? Really for free... with all the free games achievement I've got only Portal 1...and that was released free earlier... so I'm screwed...
See my point ? Or should I explain more to you what is the point of gifting :)
Let me also offer: fanbois, trolls, and other inflammatory language isn't gonna help encourage rational discourse. Let's keep civil.

Portal, Team Fortress, Alien Swarm (great if you haven't tried it yet, if sadly a bit shortlived).
I got Alien Breed from a summer sale event. I got Two Worlds 2 and AC: Brotherhood during the last Xmas event.

There's also a list of Free games on Steam available somewhere, not quite sure where. Peggle Extreme comes to mind, America's Army 3, ARMA II, Trackmania Nations Forever, Moonbase Alpha etc
