CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference live tomorrow at 5:00 PM GMT

People say it is not spring until you can plant your foot upon twelve daisies. GOG.com has proven otherwise, and you knew it’s spring after eight daisies already: Legend of Grimrock, Treasure Adventure Game, Trine, The Whispered World, Machinarium, Wing Commander 4, Spacechem, and Darwinia. However, as many a sudden change takes place on a spring day, we’re about to reveal another four amazing daisies tomorrow during CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference.

The harvest of a whole year depends on what you sow in the springtime. And this year, oh boy, we’re into some serious sowing. During CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference we will:
* tell you what has changed on GOG.com in case you missed it
* offer a sneak peek at future GOG.com releases
* give you a special gift as a big, sweet “thank you” to our users

Remember that those who arrive to the spring first, drink the purest water-- or
Remember that spring won't come from one flower--we need plenty of you to watch the CD Projekt RED Group Spring Conference!
I liked the conference. I wish more developers would do stuff like that. I appreciate the free game too!! I plan on buying The Witcher and The Witcher 2 especially after seeing the conference.

Oh and the dude with the hat has an epic voice.

Oh and if I buy The Witcher on Steam (I'd like to get it there for the Mac version) does this transfer to GOG as well? I wouldn't mind having it show up on my shelf.

Just thought I would say that when I bought Fallout 1 for $2.99 I thought it was a good deal. The fact that other people can now get it for free does not change that fact, it's just awesome for anyone that didn't already have it. Am I disappointed that the freebie isn't targeted at me? Sure, of course I am. But it's still a very cool thing for GOG to be doing. All you people just getting Fallout now, enjoy it - it's awesome and so is GOG for giving it to you free.

This is such a sensible and awesome post. People complaining about free Fallout because they already have it are completely missing the point.

He's using a Darth Vader voice changer.

Sir .. I 95% agree. Can`t remember if I got it in a promo or not ... but it's definetly a game worth at least its $5.99 value .. if not more. I am not disappointed that I can`t enjoy the freebie as I already own it .. but I think it's wrong to say that this freebie comes as a gift for all the community that supported GOG all these years ... because I am sure that the majority of this community has it already .. GOG has stats on how many users already own Fallout before releasing it as free ... so it's just a freebie as a nice gesture and that's it.

Now .. the free Witcher 2 update ... and all the extra stuff GOG packs with their games ... those can pass as real rewards for the community.

GOG still remains awesome nevertheless and I too am happy that now 100% of the community should be able to get Fallout and enjoy a masterpiece.

No, buying on Steam doesn't get you the GOG version of TW1 - I'm pretty sure that's specifically TW2 they're doing that for.

Myself, I already have the Witcher on GOG, so I'll probably wait until GOG allows the download of the Mac version from GOG. A pity, but I can understand the reason for releasing on Steam first (and for those who would choose to get it there) as it has the larger audience and already supports Mac games so those who game on Mac know to look there. Hopefully one day GOG will have all platforms available to download that a game is capable of running on (native or professionally ported version or DosBox/ScummVm games). I have a feeling that day is nearer than not with the spread into newer and indie titles, but we shall see!

P.S. @GOG, the uploaded video stops at 53:08 (for me anyway, I don't know if others see the same) right before Trevor announces free Fallout. :)

de_Monteynard: Does anyone know what RT means in their Twitter posts? Now, while there have been both Twitter and Facebook exclusive giveaways, they should know that there are several of us here who don't like social media and so far, they haven't forgotten about us. Hope this doesn't change now.

The dude with the hat appreciates it.
I've managed to lock myself out of admin rights from my home address, so I can't update the main news post to tell you guys this: the video stream archive got completely farked; our video folks are working on it and will get it live as soon as they can, but that likely means tomorrow. Apologies for the delay.

I'll be hanging out in the forums for an hour or so before bed, so if you have any questions, hit me up in a reply and I'll get right back to you.

:) You had to be a radio personality in your past life, amirite? I was listening to the video at work and it sounded like I was listening to someone on the radio.

rjfigueiredo: One price and still Witcher 2 is 40€ for europe and 40$ for the rest of the world, 1$ not 1€ eh, nice tag line guys, pity you don't follow it.

rewsan: GOG put in workaround, legal argument, GOG lost. Store credit for those that have to pay more. Would you rather they didn't sell it?
That's why they should never have partnered with the bastards who required this.
It's like selling your soul.

I'll grant you that presenting the offer as a reward for long-time users is definitely a misrepresentation of its actual role. It is in fact a reward for new users, a very good one too - GOG probably ought to have represented it this way.

The Witcher 2 update is indeed something to be drooling over, I've been holding off on a second play-through till its release... there's also that whole writing a thesis thing, but that's far less important than waiting for a game update. Heh.
I already have Fallout and sure I'm a little disappointed (in the calmest sense of the word) but It's not anything I'll be losing sleep over. Besides it's nice to have the extra features that comes with it like the manual. (The physical copy I bought was one of those cheap ones where they don't have any manual)

I didn't catch the conference, hopefully some games blog will have the gory details later.
I just wanted to offer this to all of you guys who are expressing disappointment about Fallout as our giveaway: GOG.com has a huge userbase, and even though we've had Fallout for sale on our website since we launched, it's something that more than 90% of our users don't own. That's users who signed up three weeks ago, three months ago, and and three years ago. When we thought about what we could offer our users that is--bar none--one of the best gaming experiences ever made, Fallout was an early and obvious choice.

Negotiating something like our giveaway of Fallout is something that takes a lot of time and goodwill between both the IP holder (that's Interplay; thanks, guys!) and the distributor (that's us); negotiating another contract with another IP holder for a smaller percentage of the website (and then another contract for an even smaller percentage, and so on ad infinitum) would require so much more time and effort than the initial deal that we'd quickly drown in legal tape.

We did give all of our fans--even the longest-term ones who have faithfully bought everything in our catalog--a gift a few weeks ago with the delightful Treasure Adventure Game; this was done in part because we wanted to make sure that no one would feel that they haven't received a thank you from us.

We hope that the overwhelming majority of our users who don't own Fallout already will give it a try; it's one of the best games ever made, and one of my personal favorites. For those of you who already owned a copy, you got the chance to enjoy the incredible atom-punk setting of the Fallout universe before many people who are just now discovering it for the first time, and that incredible experience is a value at any price we've ever charged for this game.

Keep tuned to GOG.com; we are continuing to release more fantastic classics (we can't talk about them because the really awesome ones are still awaiting some approvals by our partners, so they're still NDA'ed!) in the upcoming weeks and months; we will also keep providing you guys with fantastic newer and indie games as well. Thanks for watching the conference, or for reading one of the summaries posted around; we appreciate the passion of our long-time fans and we'd like to say hello to the new ones a well.

People ask me all the time if I do voice work. The answer is "no, not really." But I did theater acting for 13 years; some of that still shows when I speak in public, I guess. :D
