I have just realized that quite a new game is on the GOG wish list: Spore. It's good as a game, but certainly not old. I think that it appearances there, as well as most of the votes it has collected so far (including my own vote) were placed to show, that there are people who would play the game if it is distributed in a normal way without all the accompanied malware.
I wonder if Spore would ever enter the GOG catalog. Judging by the maliciousness and greed o it current distributor it would not. But maybe if it bankrupted (fingers crossed!) the game would be set free? ;-)

Eh. I'd rather GOG stay with the era of titles it's grabbing. I mean, 1990s, to the first year of the 2000s. I don't want to see GOG end up competing with Steam for my "Current Generation" games.

Also, and this is just me, until EA realizes that customers are not criminals and most don't want to lease their games I won't be purchasing anything more from EA. Pity, because there are several titles out now and coming up I would have like to have played.
And no, I won't play pirated copies either. Kinda takes away the moral high ground, don't ya know.

They were just dick headed with Spore. I've never had issues with The Sims or The Sims 2. I won't be buying Spore (for reasons beyond DRM), but I'll still get The Sims games for my woman.

Perhaps we can agree to disagree, 'cause I do. The new Red Alert 3 has install limits and it is rumored that Dead Space will as well, both are games I would have been interested in. I am also not a big fan of third party software (SecuROM) installed on my PC that is hard to get rid of, doesn't uninstall when I uninstall the game it came with and updates itself without my permission. EA is going down a road that I won't travel, and even purchasing their older titles still puts money in their pockets. Don't get me wrong. I own quite a collection of EA games, some of which still have space on my HDD. But they won't see anymore of my slim discretionary income until and unless they decide that: My PC is MY PC and I will choose what gets installed; I own what I purchase and can install it as many times as I want for my own use without have to call their TS and beg for another install; and lastly, I am a customer. Not a pirate. Don't treat me as one.

I'm not saying I'm for DRM, Some methods are more restrictive than others. I can buy and then resell Sims Titles, because they use CDkey authentication. SecuROM and other methods, I'd rather not see. I'm not familliar with SecuROM, so I can't say much about it.
I know this though, if I ever get Dead Space, I'm getting it on a console.

No worries, Weclock, I'm done preaching anyhow, for the moment... :)
But to drag myself back to the area of the OT, the Wishlist does seem to contain a whole slew of 'current' titles not really in spirit with what I would call Good Old Games. Getting kinda out of hand, even.

Spore is a load of crap and should not be on the wish list , do not taint the greatness of old games with that pos!

I thought Spore was a bit meh really. While it was impressive how they managed to blend five or six genres into a single game, each individual stage wasn't particularly good.

I currently own Spore and it is installed on this PC, considering all the rave reviews and all the "protection" EA have snuck into it's code you would have thought it would be something special.........it's not, in fact it's far from it, maybe it is just me but after getting to the galactic stage and playing it for about 1hr 30 mins I found I was bored shirtless stopped playing and never felt the need to go back to it.
It's the type of game that even if it was included on GOG free and with all the third party crap taken out I still would not download it.
I can only think that the people who have voted for it in the wishlist have either not played it or are maybe drunk :)

My wife and best friend were bth going to get Spore, but when they found out about its DRM, they both decided against it. I'm not going to buy any game that restricts my right to trade my game to get another.

clearly, if you want to beat 2nd hand stores, go for digital distribution only. :P

Actually it's more than a rumor, unless they change their mind, all new EA games will use online activation.
