I have no desire to wrongfully take advantage of gog or anything like that, I don't personally see this line of questioning as wrong (and whether it is or not is besides the point of this thread). Now I KNOW you can still get partial bundles at a reduced discount, but, cheaper is cheaper.

Say (as a hypothetical example) I had Thief 2 on gog, and Thief 1 on steam, and only wanted Thief 3, but this other guy wanted both Thief 1 and 2. Is there some method for purchasing a bundle where after paying for the whole thing, I could split it like that (and then give my portion of the money to the other guy or the other guy give me my portion of the money through paypal or whatever)?
I know if I bought it for myself, Thief 2 would become a gift, and 1 and 3 would be redeemed to me.

From what I can tell, if I buy the entire pack as a gift, there's still no way to redeem individual games separately.

But I'm certain I remember receiving a gift link once where there were several games, many of which I did not have, where I only redeemed one game. How exactly was that done? Is it even possible, or did I imagine it?

As a completely side issue, someone told me that gog galaxy would have some system implemented that would be able to tell what steam games you had, and incorporate that information somehow (like when taking into account discounts on gog without including games you already own on other platforms). Is there any truth to this?

If you already own a game you can't take that game off of a gift link. But there is no way to split a bundle the way your describing.
When you buy a bundle you get a serial key (if you buy it as gift that is), which includes the games.
As far as I know, you can redeem particular games from that bundle (key) and leave what you don't desire for another person or whatever.

Somebody needs to verify this, as I've never done it.

That's the only way for "splitting" bundles as far as I know

I tested this just now (with a mutant combopack gift someone permitted me to experiment with, though, not some bundle), and I saw no way to redeem the games separately.
If you own a complete bundle then you a gift items from the bundle at full bundle discount (i.e. if I own all Might & Magic games, I can gift MM 7 alone at full bundle discount). There's no way to split a full bundle code unless you redeem the code, which only assigns games you don't own on GOG to your account then give the rest to someone else.

Currently, if you purchase multiple games together you get just one key for all of them. Any games you don't have, you can redeem them for yourself and the rest remain as one single gift code. There is no way to split a discounted bundle gift code.

As for your anecdotal evidence, the only explanation would be if the other games in question were redeemed at the same time by someone else and you only got the leftover. Otherwise, no.

And for the final bit, complete bogus.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand this properly.
Are you saying that if you own every game in the bundle and buy it as a gift, then you can give someone the gift link and they can redeem individual games in the bundle separately?

No, edited my original post for clarity.

Dunno. I remember being gifted a serial key for 2 games.
When I got to the redeem page, there were a list of all included games and a tick box next to each one of them.

Story might be different with bundles. There is that.
PS: I've never bought/redeemed bundles before so..

Yes, this is what I remember too, which is why I asked!
