Gamasutra had an interview with Ubisoft and it was announced that ANOTHER Splinter Cell game was announced. I love this game as much as the next stealth junkie, but come on! On the flip side, an IGN video stated the guys of Assassin Creed fame would help build the game...So, yeah. Thoughts?
Fisher and Grim are the only members of 3rd echelon left and I think Sam's story is really finished. He's done his professional work, he's had his tragedy, he's gotten resolution from his tragedy and to go back to business as usual would be rather weak story wise.
Frankly I'd be extremely happy if this game changed the franchise story up somewhat, put Anna back into the analyst role (feel free to make jokes about her arse, I know I've thought of a few) and put Sam in the Lambert role and you were playing a completely new agent
Also, I want to be able to carry bodies again damnit!

And not have the option to wield a shotgun and infinite ammo desert eagle that fires as fast as you can pull the trigger?
Oh yeah, infinite pistol ammo was lame, it removed the debate over whether it was a good idea to waste a bullet to shoot out the light or try and sneak through. Shotguns were in the first game though so there's no problem there

There was a debate? You always had enough ammo between the pistol and the rifle to take out all the lights you would ever need to AND kill everyone. Just make your shots count.
That being said, the infinite pistol ammo in Conviction DID lead to putting down suppressing fire and not really needing to stealth.
Conviction eliminated the stealth component far too much for it to be a Splinter Cell game as I know it. Aliasalpha is right about Sam's story closing; it wouldn't feel right for him to fight again.
The thing that really bugged me was
*spoilers about Double Agent and Conviction*

the fact that you could save Lambert in DA instead of kill him, but it still treated it as though you killed him in Conviction, which annoyed me.

Yes, but in a sneaky way.
Like, solve somebody else's crossword in their room while they're sleeping.
Another one? I still haven't gotten around to playing any of them. :/

Palin joins him in the next game. Because every rogue needs a maverick.

We did that once to someone on the tube, she'd fallen asleep with pen in hand so we swiped the paper filled it in with some random words and put it back. I would habve loved to have seen her face when she woke up and noticed it.

Add in a dwarf cleric, lawful good fighter, ranger, wizard, bard and you get a group of good doers that are trying to save the world/kingdom form evil.
They will all be killed while there still weak in order to stop any threat they may be to my evil empire. Death to goodness and light!
