Antaniserse: The controls are much smoother, too, and designed specifically for the gamepad.
Looks like i will have to pass this game .
Finally! Been waiting to see this make its way to PC since its release. Good news indeed, especially that it'll even be immediately available on here.

Not so fast. Spelunky was originally made on PC for the keyboard. Spelunky HD was a remake of the game for XBox Live Arcade. That quoted text is describing the XBLA version, saying that they put care into the port to make the controls feel right for the new platform rather than just slapping a mapping and calling it a day.

Now, especially with that "SPELUNKY IS COMING HOME" message, there's no reason to believe they won't put the same amount of care into the PC backport to make keyboard controls as good as possible.
Lulz at the people whining about "Steam Only" when GOG was specifically mentioned in the announcement.
Coming August 8th.

You and SCPM seem to have posted at the exact same time but in different threads.

I thought it was funny.

I noticed that after posting. This was the first one I found searching for the game as I knew it had been talked about before and posted to it.
Color me shocked. The Spelunky HD PC release got a news posting on IGN, but what blows my mind is that they actually mentioned GOG. I don't think I've ever seen IGN mention GOG in an article. It's always Steam this and Steam that. Someone must have made a mistake...

:D I remember playing an absolutely insane amount of the original PC version. I'm glad the new version is finally coming to PC, even if it does lack the nice pixel art of the original.

Barefoot_Monkey: Yaaaay! I love Spelunky! This is wonderful news.

The only way this could be better is if the release was followed by news of an Aquaria sequel being made (hey, I can dream, can't I?).
I can honestly say Aquaria is one of the most wonderful beautiful family friendly titles I've ever played that I simply have not been able to finish... I guess it got a bit same'y to me with just it's pacing.
It definitely would sell a sequel well unlike for example Eufloria, which would of been a lot better if it was a space colonization game.
If I could pick the very next remake though, well it's only dreaming but another Nintendo 64 'esque Bomberman would be brilliant.

Ah well, SPELUNKY!!!
