GOG.com and Interplay Level up!

GOG.com has been in talks with our good friends at Interplay, and we’re pleased to be able to say that we have good news! Not only are we adding four classic games from their catalog to GOG.com in the near future, but we’re also going to give you another chance to [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay_price_change_promo_09_11_12]save big on the games we already have for the next week!

Every silver lining has a cloud, though, and the reason that we’re putting the games on sale again is because we’re raising the prices on some of the Interplay games on the 16th of November as part of our new deal with Interplay. As such, games such as Fallout, MDK, Redneck Rampage and others may never be as cheap on GOG.com as they will be this next week. If you’ve been hesitating to pull the trigger on any classic Interplay games, now’s your last chance to buy and save big!

What are the new games that we’re adding to the Interplay collection? Well, if you know GOG.com, you know what we don’t like to give away that kind of news early, but if you’re paying attention on our website--or on any of our social media channels like , [url=http://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, , [url=http://www.youtube.com/gogcom]Google+ or even just your email inbox, you’ll be sure to find out.

So pick up our last huzzay of Interplay games at $2.99 this week, and let us know in the comments below what classic Interplay games you’re hoping will show up on GOG.com early next year--or perhaps even sooner!

Neilk40: Which games in the interplay sale are must have's?
avatar
Licurg: -All Fallout games
-All Shiny games (Sacrifice, Messiah, MDK and Earthworm Jim)
-Giants: Citizen Kabuto
-Redneck Rampage
-Kingpin
-MDK 2

Those are must-haves. You can choose others depending on your tastes (Give M.A.X. a look if you like the genre)
Thanks, Yes most of these i think i will pick up along with Stonekeep, Battle Chess and Castles 1/2.

I thought the interplay sale was ending tomorrow morning 5 am here in the UK but its got over 3 days left so can relax now, just bought Back To The Future: The Game as that does end at tomorrow morning 5 am UK time.

I really wish now i went for tier 3 in that Pay as much as you want deal the other week but i thought they would be way too many games for me so just went for tier 1.

The_End71: I've never bought anything here from GOG, so I have a question about compatibility of games.

I see that they list the operating systems that each game is said to work with on the store page for each game. I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit. If something doesn't specifically say that it works on W7, does that mean that it definitely wont work? Or does it mean that it might work on W7, but they just can't give a rock-solid guarantee?
You can usually find the answers to all of your compatibility questions in the user forum for each game. To get there, click the Community button at the top of the screen, then enter the game you have a question about in the search field next to "Game specific forums". There is tons of information on these forums from many different users with many different configurations.

I also have Win7 64 bit. I have yet to have a problem running any of the GoG games on it that I have purchased (over 160 games). Most games work just fine on Win7 as is from GoG, others may require a bit of tweaking or a community patch. One word of advice is, never install to the program files directory. Use your own user created directory (e.g. c:\games).

Edit: It's a good idea to always check the community forums anyway, as there may be information on high definition and/or widescreen patches, as well as other interesting mods.

Me too. It seemed like a lot, but in the long run it would have probably been worth it.

:/

You should've gotten it, would've been the best deal you ever made. I would've bought it in a second if I had the money :/

Thanks for the advice.

And thanks to everybody else who took the time to answer. I appreciate it. :)
Speaking of compatibility issues with Win 7 64bit, I have an ASUS N55SL laptop, with Nvidia Optimus (GeForce 645M + Intel Intergrated GPU), will I have problems running both MDK and MDK 2? I am planning on buying those, but their respective gamecards don't have Win 7 listed. I have problems running NOX (before little tweakings) eventhough that game is supposed to work in Win 7, according to it's gamecard.

Are you sure the issue was Win7, and not something else? I think all games (also in GOG) come with a bit of "buyers beware", but much more often the issue is with e.g. hardware, drivers etc., than the underlying Windows version.

For example, when I got my new laptop with new NVidia Geforce graphics hardware, I was struck by the "jagged/blocky fog of war" visual artifacts with all the Infinity engine games (Baldur's Gate 1-2 etc.), while on another ATI/AMD hardware Win7 laptop there are no such issues. I presume this would have happened even if I had used WinXP on that same laptop.

The workaround that worked for me was tweaking the ingame graphics settings, ie. selecting software blt options, and 16bit colors.

I had the same problem on my laptop too, until I installed the bug fix mods and widescreen mods outlined in the Baldur's Gate community forums.

Ok good to know the mods can also fix it.
