GOG.com and Interplay Level up!

GOG.com has been in talks with our good friends at Interplay, and we’re pleased to be able to say that we have good news! Not only are we adding four classic games from their catalog to GOG.com in the near future, but we’re also going to give you another chance to [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay_price_change_promo_09_11_12]save big on the games we already have for the next week!

Every silver lining has a cloud, though, and the reason that we’re putting the games on sale again is because we’re raising the prices on some of the Interplay games on the 16th of November as part of our new deal with Interplay. As such, games such as Fallout, MDK, Redneck Rampage and others may never be as cheap on GOG.com as they will be this next week. If you’ve been hesitating to pull the trigger on any classic Interplay games, now’s your last chance to buy and save big!

What are the new games that we’re adding to the Interplay collection? Well, if you know GOG.com, you know what we don’t like to give away that kind of news early, but if you’re paying attention on our website--or on any of our social media channels like , [url=http://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, , [url=http://www.youtube.com/gogcom]Google+ or even just your email inbox, you’ll be sure to find out.

So pick up our last huzzay of Interplay games at $2.99 this week, and let us know in the comments below what classic Interplay games you’re hoping will show up on GOG.com early next year--or perhaps even sooner!

Fred_DM: christ, i sure hope you're getting paid for your constant brown-nosing...

next time gas prices go up, make sure you send Shell a nice thank you letter as well.

mondo84: LOL I wish I were as serious and irritated as you. Plus I didn't realize not complaining is the same as "brown-nosing". But if the brown comes from GOG, I can't complain.
How could Frantic Freddy forget the 100% deep discount that GOG had for Fallout before? When is Steam going to match that? :)

In my, and Fred's case, it also matters that in Steam it is not $10, but $12.70 (=10€).

It would be great to see titles like

Frankenstein: Through the eyes of the monster

Mummy: Tomb of the pharaoh

maycett: They're the only Interplay games I don't have that I sort of want, but the MDK games look like generic 3rd person action games (which I have tons of already),
MDK looks generic ?!?!? LOL, what fucking cave did you just crawl out of ? MDK is one of the best, most original and most innovative games ever made !
I've never bought anything here from GOG, so I have a question about compatibility of games.

I see that they list the operating systems that each game is said to work with on the store page for each game. I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit. If something doesn't specifically say that it works on W7, does that mean that it definitely wont work? Or does it mean that it might work on W7, but they just can't give a rock-solid guarantee?

I'm almost certain that it's the latter. The games listed as running Windows 7 have been tested/confirmed as working. Other games might work, but they're not (currently) guaranteed under W7.

maycett: Anything special about MDK, MDK 2 or Sacrifice that make them must-haves? They're the only Interplay games I don't have that I sort of want, but the MDK games look like generic 3rd person action games (which I have tons of already), and I don't usually like RTS games.

Edit: Nevermind my question, I just looked these up and they're all available on steam
MDK and Sacrifice are amazing, funny, unique and fun games made by Shiny and well worth the money
MDK 2 I never played so can't comment (gonna buy during sale though)

It means that it will most likely work but GOG can't guarantee it

I've had many games that weren't marked as compatible with 7, work with 7 without any problems, now that I think about it...in my big library of GOG games, only very few had difficulties working with 7
If it's a DOS game, those will definitely work on Window 7 since they use DOSBox. In fact you can run them on anything as long as there is DOSBox for it.

I have Win7. Sacrifice says nothing about working on Win7. But I play Sacrifice on my Win7 :) So don't worry, most of them will work.

I played it. It's not bad, just not like the first one... I wouldn't recommend it at the full price, but at this price - deffinitely :)

I have an original copy of Sacrifice in an old compilation pack which i havent got round to playing yet, is it worth buying the GOG version or is the version i have easy to get running on windows 7 32bit?

Well, I have an original copy of Sacrifice as well, but I couldn't make it work right :/ Even if you could, I still recommend buying it from here. It's just 3$ to play one of the best games ever, hassle-free. More than worth it IMO.

In Fred's world everything GOG does, including giving away games for free, is done with cold, malicious, calculated intent.

Ok thanks, think i will pick it up, the only reason i asked is not because of the price on its own, it's just i am going to get quite alot of games in this interplay sale in one purchase so trying to minimise the cost altogether.

Which games in the interplay sale are must have's?

I already have Fallout 1 and 2.

Neilk40: Which games in the interplay sale are must have's?
-All Fallout games
-All Shiny games (Sacrifice, Messiah, MDK and Earthworm Jim)
-Giants: Citizen Kabuto
-Redneck Rampage
-Kingpin
-MDK 2

Those are must-haves. You can choose others depending on your tastes (Give M.A.X. a look if you like the genre)
I'm not sure whether raising prices is the right way for Interplay to generate revenue, but if Fallout weren't previously being sold on GOG, and it arrived tomorrow with the $10 price tag, probably most people would feel it was worth it. So I'm not exactly trembling with outrage over this.

Maybe I'll pick up Descent. I've pretty much passed over that entire genre, and this would be a cheap way to try it out.
