GOG.com and Interplay Level up!

GOG.com has been in talks with our good friends at Interplay, and we’re pleased to be able to say that we have good news! Not only are we adding four classic games from their catalog to GOG.com in the near future, but we’re also going to give you another chance to [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay_price_change_promo_09_11_12]save big on the games we already have for the next week!

Every silver lining has a cloud, though, and the reason that we’re putting the games on sale again is because we’re raising the prices on some of the Interplay games on the 16th of November as part of our new deal with Interplay. As such, games such as Fallout, MDK, Redneck Rampage and others may never be as cheap on GOG.com as they will be this next week. If you’ve been hesitating to pull the trigger on any classic Interplay games, now’s your last chance to buy and save big!

What are the new games that we’re adding to the Interplay collection? Well, if you know GOG.com, you know what we don’t like to give away that kind of news early, but if you’re paying attention on our website--or on any of our social media channels like , [url=http://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook, , [url=http://www.youtube.com/gogcom]Google+ or even just your email inbox, you’ll be sure to find out.

So pick up our last huzzay of Interplay games at $2.99 this week, and let us know in the comments below what classic Interplay games you’re hoping will show up on GOG.com early next year--or perhaps even sooner!
If Wasteland is EA, Flashback and Heart of Darkness arent from Interplay (only had publisher agreements on USA, they are Virgin and Delphine games if i recall right).
Dungeon Master 1 is unclear but maybe the second is Interplay.
Descent to Undermountain is D&D.. so Hasbro owns it.
Neuromancer was Westwood, so it will be EA.

But.. Bard's Tale was and it is Interplay.. , so i hope they or Inxile will publish it here as it is a bonus on his Bard's Tale remake on steam...

That left us with some crap FMV like the Mummy and other games im not going to buy and less with higher price.

I see a bad trend on GOG of launching games at very large prices (Telltale by example) that i wiil not buy until a 80% sale as the one this week. And even with those sales the price is very expensive for some titles... and i will not buy then ever...

serpantino: Wow so much stupidity. It's the principle of it. GOG is showing weakness and making concessions and Publishers are greedy, we all know that. Others will look at this and push for more money. I'm focusing on the long term, some people can't seem to see past their fanboyism.
You mean other publishers will be charging 9.99$ for certain popular titles on GoG? So, in other words it will be exactly as it already is.
Will I lose anything if I skip the first Freespace and go directly to the second (which have the best rating)? I'm thinking about buying it and Stonekeep (even with my prejudice against gaphic with real people). There are other Interplay stuff on my wishlist (and some titles of which I'd like to have a gog backup), but I'm trying to save money to upgrade my poor machine :P
a price hike on games as old as 10 years? what the fuck am i reading?! games are supposed to become cheaper in time, not the other way round.

forunately, i already own everything Interplay i could want.

Apparently not any of the posts that talk about Interplay having financial troubles.

Also, in case you're angry at GOG, check the price on this one:

Yes, we are all relieved. ;)

christ, i sure hope you're getting paid for your constant brown-nosing...

next time gas prices go up, make sure you send Shell a nice thank you letter as well.

difference is, Steam discounts are usually 75%, and that includes the above Fallout collection, which makes it cheaper than it will ever be here.

GOG doesn't normally do discounts that high. to compensate that, base prices tend to be lower than elsewhere ($6 game on GOG, 50% off = $3; same game $10 on Steam, 75% off = $2.50). it doesn't work real well if you raise prices without also adjusting discounts...

Well, in theory you could just ignore the first game, but Freespace 1 helps establish quite a bit of context, especially the expansion pack Silent Threat. A certain main character from Freespace 2 is believed to be the player character from Silent Threat, which is (sorta) confirmed in dialogue (that he participated in the events of the first game.)

At $3, it is a shame if you ignore Freespace 1. Personally I feel the game is worth $15, with the second game worth $20, and we have it as a perpetual discount (unless the developers feel the same way as I do, for which I apologize in advance.) Freespace 1 is also good training for Freespace 2, as the later game is also quite difficult especially in certain missions. You really should buy Freespace 1.

LOL I wish I were as serious and irritated as you. Plus I didn't realize not complaining is the same as "brown-nosing". But if the brown comes from GOG, I can't complain.

:)
Man, I really wish I had heard about the PWYW promo a couple of weeks ago. I've just started to go through the Interplay game selection to choose which games that I want and without any trouble I'm already up to 13 games for almost $39. A couple of weeks ago I could have had the whole catalog for $35.

The_End71: snip
Be sure to buy Sacrifice.
7 games I want at $20. Hmmm... it's basically all the tier 3 stuff from the promo that I didn't already own minus the Fallout games (I can't stand self aware humor or post apocalyptic settings), but if I had gotten tier 3 at least I'd have some gifts for people.

What to do. All I know is I should have spent that 20 bucks on the EA promo lol

Licurg: Be sure to buy Sacrifice.
Yeah, It's on my list. Even if I pare the list down a bit to 7 games, Sacrifice is one of the games that I plan to buy.
Anything special about MDK, MDK 2 or Sacrifice that make them must-haves? They're the only Interplay games I don't have that I sort of want, but the MDK games look like generic 3rd person action games (which I have tons of already), and I don't usually like RTS games.

Edit: Nevermind my question, I just looked these up and they're all available on steam

MDK games were made by Shiny... so they've got a sense of humor and innovation. MDK2 has 3 characters which play completely different from each other so it isn't very generic at all (though that has other flaws depending on what genres you like). I haven't played it since the Dreamcast days, but it was quite fun back then.
