A farewell to arms promo!

The Arma Series, that is Arma Gold Edition, Arma: Cold War Assault, and Arma 2: Combined Operations (complete with the Operation Arrowhead expansion), providing the ultimate mod-enabled first person-perspective military simulation experience, is available up to 80% off on GOG.com. That's only $8.17 for the whole set of three games, for the next 72 hours.

War has always been, and probably always will be, one of the predominant themes in computer games. From 8-bit systems to contemporary monster gaming rigs you'll have simulators, strategy games, and war-inspired arcade titles. But there's only one type of game that could let you really see war as a first-hand gritty and immersive experience. An FPS, first person perspective shooter. Again, there are many levels of realism throughout the genre. Some of the war FPS' tend to focus on storytelling, using heavy scripting to deliver a cinematic experience. Others don't try to hide the fact, that the war you're seeing isn't real and that the main goal is to have fun while playing. And there's the Arma Series.

Arma Series is a game series that will make you feel like an actual combatant on one of the modern-day military missions. A game that will amaze you with its level of realism in recreating actual weapons, military gear, ballistics, and battlefield conditions. A game that will challenge you in ways no other wargame ever could. Dropping you in the middle of a fictional conflict, that feels more real than most things you see on the news, it proves to be the ultimate modern-day military simulation that you can play outside of actual military VR training facilities. Arma 2: Combined Operations allows for massive multiplayer matches that can host up to 50 players simultaneously, and the Operation Arrowhead expansion that, on top of adding another campaign to the game, provides extensive mod compatibility, this is the FPP wargame you want to get, if you mean business.

On top of that, Arma 2: Combined Operations is required to run DayZ, the most popular game modification since the infamous Hot Coffe. What? You don't know what DayZ is? Don't fret--we've got you covered.

Do you think you can handle real virtual warfare? Find out if you really know which side of the assault rifle you should point at the enemies in the complete Arma Series, for only $8.17 on GOG.com. The special promo lasts until Saturday, June 7, at 9:59AM GMT. Games also available separately with lower discount rate. The games already owned on GOG.com count towards the higher discount.

Important note: This is a last chance promo, as Arma Gold Edition, Arma: Cold War Assault, and Arma 2: Combined Operations will be removed from sales on GOG.com on June 22, along with the remaining Bohemia Interactive title: Original War. If you buy (or have already bought) any of these games, they will remain on your account "shelf", so you'll be still able to access and download them.

Enebias: Damn, removal of games from GOG is becoming a bad habit!
Once again, the world moves one step further towards Steam monopoly - something WAY WORSE than DRM itself. Call me fanboy, nuisance or ranter, but I would rather not play videogmaes at all than paying Valve to do so. I am disgusted of the trend in PC gaming nowdays (no hard feelings on Bohemia, though as long as they stay 100% Steam they will have one less customer), and now I've yet another valid motive to boycott Steam.
Steam already has a monopoly if you did not notice before. Every other digital games store beside gog just delivers Steamkeys.

I know isn't that funny :) That's a first for gog. Probably Bohemias way to retain gog buyers - but they forgot that gog is about drm-free which Steam certainly isn't :)

Dang it. Any chances for Original War promo before it disappears?

Judging by what I've read it's more like GOG is delivering CD-Keys/Activation-Keys to allow access to the multiplayer servers and that these keys just happen to also be accepted by steam. (I could be wrong though.)

So it's not actually a steam key, it just can be used as one. -_^

Shambhala: I think I would never play these games, yet now that they are being pulled out I feel so compelled to buy them...
Me too. It's insane.
I wouldn't. It's just positive reinforcement for bad choices for them. Vote with your wallets, guys. No more money for bad moves.

I guess this is all about Bohemia's new-found Steam sycophancy, is it? Well, fuck you Bohemia Interactive.

Not that I am bothered or surprised any more. It depresses me to see the sad joke that PC gaming has become, but my PS4 is finally on its way in a fortnight, whereupon I will most likely be abandoning the final vestiges of PC gaming that I've stuck with these past couple of years.

phaolo: Other games are being removed.. oh why? :'(

At least GOG managed to warn us again.
Indeed, it's sad that these games are being removed from GOG's catalog. T_T

However it is nice to see that when possible warning is given.
Thanks for the heads up, Rock on GOG! ^_^

No sarcasm, this basically has granted this wish on the GOG wishlist:
Warning when a game is about to be removed from the system.

Those Czech management greedy short visions can't surprise me anymore ...
But one thing is sure - Steam will not be here forever - at least not as a reliable multiplayer service as it is seen these days - it has its own problems, often connection losses and blackouts, it can happen that such a blackout will last for a few days or months ... or will be abandoned like now GFWL is because of some technical reason...
So there is a big lack of DRM-free open-source version of the service similar to Steamworks on the market - LAN multiplayer option in the game is just not enough these days!

Crappy news :(

DampSquib: stuff
Saw it was valid still and ninjaed it. I was on the fence about getting them so I thank you.

I'll get something worth about the same amount sometime between now and when the weekend promo goes up to give away in return.

I just saw now that the games are being removed. I'm not sure if I'd like these games as I've never played any, yet I'm sad to see them disappear from here. And I don't like the current 'trend' of games being removed... At least we had a warning though.

LiquidOxygen80: Tbh, these promos have the opposite effect on me. For one, if you're basically flipping the bird to a userbase, who the eff do you think you are attempting to grift more money out of us?

That's like knocking a kid down, taking their lunch money, then offering them a one time only opportunity to get SOME of it back.

In this instance, why reward Bohemia by giving them ANY money? Instead, THIS is what you should be boycotting. So no, I'm not gonna buy these games, even at a sale, because of a choice they made that's detrimental to the rest of us by eliminating an option.

This is a prime opportunity to vote with my wallet, and I plan to.
I had arma 2 on my steam account before I abandoned my steam account and its philosophy. I jumped at the chance to buy it again on gog. I jumped on the chance to buy the previous titles too now I know what Bohemia are planning.

If you like the genre, why not buy it now DRM free ? It truly is a last chance for great games. If you want to vote with your wallet, boycott ARMA3, I certainly have and will continue to do so.

Having said that, I can understand you wanting to boycott now rather than later.
