Skreczi: Well some people are asking about cake...
Now that is just cruel lol

As a side note, I have really been enjoying these commercials. The end result (Tues) is exciting I'm sure, but the build up even more so. It is always intersting to see which marketing ploy GOG will pull out of their handbag of tricks everytime they have an announcement to make.

still mis-advertising by my interpretation of UK marketing laws :-P

bazilisek: snip

Frankly, it's cringeworthy, and not really of the good kind, and the constant jabs at competition sound a lot like a fly buzzing around a cow feeling very smug. So, yeah.

Lodium: Woud you perhaps felt better if GoG had hired proffesionals to do the ads and let the customers take the bill like the big companies?

At least gog did this filming and shooting themself and i dont think you woud have done better unless your educated in making comercials.
This. Plus it shows that they are hands on, and the end product personalizes the company. That is a move which theoretically reenforces the company-customer connection, which in turn reinforces GOG's business practices that are stated in the commercials.

Fifeldor: Personally I think these commercials were somewhat funny but there are a couple of moments -like the knight stabbing the laptop or the guy ripping the other person's shirt off- which are awkward and clumsy.

I would have preferred GOG reaching to its pool of resources, this here forum, and ask some of the people who have showed their tasteful creativity many times (like Lexor who had made that awesome poster-ad with the bus stop) to create some new ads/youtube videos/whatever, reward them with a few games of their choice, and use these ideas.

In any case, waiting for tomorrow!
THIS, this right here. Why didn't you make this a community type project, with 'winners' receiving a couple of free games or something? You have a large pool of intelligent rabid fans/customers who would do the work for you, and to be quite honest, most likely much better than you, and in a way that would probably appeal more to other customers, or potential customers, in a way that somewhat awkward official commercials really do not.

Why not use a willing friendly community that you have built and are building to help promote a new improved expansion of your service? As long as you are open about it and providing desired incentives, where is the downside? Nothing sells me on a product/service quite like another satisfied customer who is knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to share their passion for, or a measured critique of, a superior product or service. Let us do the work for you!

weird... I used a timecode converter and it told me, that 12pm EDT would be 3pm for Germany... maybe a mistake on the converter webpage? :)
For a "hypothetical" poll I´d go for this.... GOG is trying to show their new "not only old games" platform

I usually just Bing the three-letter abbreviation, it takes you to a website such as this one where you can check the current time:
http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/na/edt.html
Everything else tends to be quite unreliable in my experience, with all those crazy and pointless DST and similar shenanigans.

This planet really needs some sort of simple and universal time system.

Wishbone: Did someone forget to switch to Daylight Savings Time?
avatar
TheEnigmaticT: Yeah, we made a mistake yesterday. Unless you're suggesting we were supposed to have released something already today?
I rather think you should have. Shouldn't the last video have been up at 12:00 PM today?

Hmm, looking closer, you write 12:00 PM EDT. Since when have you started conforming to American time zones?

Roman5: It would be funny if they used mock Names of Competitors

GamersMate
SH-Team

Or something like that :)
You didn't notice the guy selling the game in the 2nd ad was wearing a GamersEntrance T-shirt, did you? :)
