JMich: Get it for the single player, play it twice (to see the other path), then promote the game to those who don't know it yet.

robb5: I might do that. You played the game right? What do you think about the multiplayer component?
The multiplayer was tacked on by publisher demand and only detracts from the point of the game, it's not very good and I wouldn't waste time with it when there's much better to be had.

The single player IS the point of the game and IS amazing. Yes, buy it and play it.

I finished this about a week ago. Case in point: surprisingly well done writing and mood of the game. Gameplay however was even worse than I had expected. Too many enemies. The only time I enjoyed combat was when you had one of those tricks available that ended it quickly.

Don't want to spoiler it so I sent a PM.
Well, finally played it tonight.

From a technical perspective, this game is a complete mess. The gunplay is repetitive and boring. The enemy AI is poor. The ally AI is fucking abysmal. The checkpoints are too few in between. The difficulty can be incredibly frustrating (yes, I know that you can turn it down), meaning that at times you have to replay entire segments. A big meh.

As for the story, well. The whole premise, I just don't think that it makes sense. I really enjoyed bits of it and try not to think too much about the bits that I didn't particularly enjoy. I'm quite close to the end but need to sleep now so went and read up on the ending on wikipedia. Yeah, pretty much saw it coming and the same premise has already been done and better IMO.

I did have fun with this game and I might even finish it off tomorrow or whenever I have time, but it probably wouldn't even make my top 5 of 2012.

7/10
Definitely get it for the single player. Very good game

So many that it becomes tidious and boring? Frankly, shooters were never my kind of game even when I was younger and on a good day but I suspect I've lost even more interest down the road and I think due to the whole story in the game the shooting became rather meaningless, all I wanted to do is find out what happened. Also, I don't like cover-to-cover shooters. I really, really don't like them. One of the reasons I never truly enjoyed multiple battles in Mass Effect but then again, I didn't play at harder difficulties so they weren't needed.

Good enough reason or? =P

Quite frankly I'm getting tired of shooters myself, but Spec Ops truly is a great game bro.
Sorry digging this old thread up. But what do you people think, how likely is it that this game will come to GOG.com?

I calculate a probability of 17.53%

The Spec Ops series is actually quite long running, starting with the first game in 1998 so we might get some of the earlier ones here first, IF GOG ever signs Take 2...

You'd think that if they did some more high profile stuff like GTA series would be a higher priority though...
