Still need to finish the first one. And I seem to need a lot of willpower for that one, I'll have to level up a few times before attempting it again.
Not just happening forums; I had a post disappear on the Community Wishlist page. Valvedrones must have gotten butthurt because I insulted their Fat Leader.

Grrr...

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/should_video_gamers_unionize_against_abusive_practices_by_publishers_and_developers/post72

[...] the Gamergate thread is trolled mercilessly by mentally ill sjw neo-feminists. Pages and pages of irrelevant or semi-irrelevant posts. But as good Goggers we must keep that thread going by contributing to it. I also would suggest low-repping them as much as possible and if you consider their post is essentially irrelevant to the thread, then report it as spam.
It's this kind of shitty "You disagree with me so that means that you are wrong and stupid and your arguments are just trolls" attitude that's getting threads auto-deleted.

(It's also this kind of rhetoric that has me staying far, far away from most any thread that's got "Gamergate", "SJW", or any other terms even tangentially related to that venomous shitstorm of a topic in its title.)

EDIT: Added missing word for improved intelligibilty :)

Nope. It's shitty users who hit the spam button on posts they don't agree with that's getting threads auto-deleted.

You mean shitty users who post things like this:

"It's a shame that so many people have trouble adhering to basic forum rules. Therefore:
-Any posts that clearly show a significant lack of understanding will be downvoted and reported as spam.
-Any posts that are obviously off topic and have no bearing whatsoever on the discussion will be downvoted and reported as spam.
-This will apply retroactively: I will be making a sweep through posts in this topic since the last time I posted on this forum."

Sorry I didn't link/quote that correctly, I didn't want to post the whole rant. :P

But it's that very attitude that I was talking about which causes them to flag things as "spam" which aren't. (I had accidentally left out a word in my post, BTW, but I edited it back in in both the original and your quote of it in this reply.) Obviously people aren't deleting threads solely with their extraordinary mental asshole powers or anything. :)
In other words, we're both saying the same thing, just in slightly different ways.
I've derepped someone for the first time in... well, quite a while. I've derepped a bunch of their posts, actually, so I've had a chance to check it out a bit. What can I say, I'm too tired from the bus trip to head out for a drink so I'm waiting alone for the family to gather at my parents' for Christmas dinner and I'm slightly bored. Go me.

Anyway, the "report as spam" button shows up on any post I derepped, except the OP. I clicked one of the spam reports to check what happens when I do, I get a small popup telling me the report's been sent, and now the "report as spam" link doesn't show on that one post. So I probably didn't report the OP by mistake (my mouse sometimes double clicks by itself).

Then, why oh why don't I see the "report as spam" link on the OP? Has this always been the case?

I just checked it with this thread :D
I clicked de-rep at your opening post and then I could see the "report as spam" button. Of course I changed it to +1 after this test :-)

hmmm... nothing then. The thread I derepped also disappeared, so the report as spam was definately working even if I didn't see it for some reason.

Too bad. For a second there, I thought I was on to something.
