I apologize if there's a thread about this. I looked, but i couldn't find one.
It looks like a couple of the Sierra 'quest' series have popped on steam, for about $14.99 US (reg: $19.99 after jul 30), I have the Space Quest Collection on disc already, but I'm tempted to pick up the Kings Quest series, even though it's missing Mask of eternity.
I guess this also means the other series will be available on there. I hope GoG gets to release the games as well at some point too, since I know they'll get it to work.

Nice catch. I'll have to check them out.
It appears that Windows Vista is not officially supported so that means no purchase from me. I hope these games eventually come to GOG with full Vista compatibility.
I'm more interested in the Quest For Glory Anthology, though.
This really needs to get on GOG! Seriously! This is definitely Activision's answer to LucasArts retro-release a few weeks ago, and in my opinion, Space Quest in particular is of comparable greatness to Monkey Island. Kings Quest too has some pretty awesome chapters as well, and is well worth checking out. The Adventure Wars of the late 80's and early 90's has returned, and it is really unfortunate and sad that GOG is missing out on the forefront of the action. It is still not too late; there are lots of great titles from both Sierra Online and LucasArts yet to go, so here's crossing my fingers and hoping that both companies will see the light and get Gogged.

These are just the bad cash grabs that were released a few years ago by Vivendi. They're missing the original versions of King's Quest 1 and Space Quest 1 and only have the remakes of the first games and they're also missing voiceovers from the later cd versions. They're ok if you've never played any of the games and want to get into the series but collectors probably won't want them.
I wish Vivendi/Activision would put some real effort into their older franchises instead of just pissing their fans off.
[21:34:07] Vivendi puts in a weak effort. You dodge.
And look at this crap:
System Requirements
# OS: Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP 32-bit *
* Some games in this collection may run under Windows XP 64 and Vista 32/64, but are not officially supported
They didn't even put two hours of summer intern time into these releases. Do not purchase.

On Steam's forums, a user has posted that all games work on Windows 7 64-bit.

These collection have been on Direct 2 Drive for more than a year, I would guess around +2.
These are the same as on D2D, not the best releases, but good enough for the price and should work.
I would prefer Kings Quest 8 and Quest for Glory instead, I really never had a connection to the Space/Kings Quest series, I was too busy playing other games like Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and Full Throttle.
How is Timeshift? Maybe I will buy it.

Actually, he only said King's Quest 1-6 work. King's Quest VII as it doesn't use DOSBox (or the DOS version at all), doesn't seem to work on newer computers.

There's a seventh? Oh. My bad.
Hmm... I think I'm still going to order the disc versions from Amazon... I can just mount the CD image that way and I have access to the raw data files.
I do wish they included the EGA versions of KQ1 and SQ1.
Also WHERE IS MY QUEST FOR GLORY!!! Heroes Quest/Quest for Glory >>>>> All the other quest games.
Steam trying to compete in GOG field?
Thanks for the info chaps.
Will save my money and await the gorgeous GOG treatment (I'm sure the GOG Team will get these one day).

This is exactly why I eschew buying old games off of Steam. They don't give a rat's fart about the quality of what they're selling, they just slap it in there and let the buyer beware.
I agree, however, that the Chief Moron in this case is Activision. Releasing shoddy games hurts both your sales and your reputation. (It could be argued that Activision has already lost their rep, but I digress.) It is waaaaaaay more cost-effective to spend a bit of money to produce a quality product. Not only will the product sell better, but people will be interested in buying the next product.
I think the COO of Activision should be fired and replaced by someone who has some business sense.
