Very nice. I think they should reward those who have purchased a lot of games, too. (I'm certainly not counting myself, I'm talking about 50, 75, 100+ games purchased. :)

Yeah, and kudos for that. Mine was also a question, ie. are there really cases where disabling UAC is necessary, if you still use the other precautions, mainly staying the heck out of Program Files, and maybe running the installation as admin? I took your comment that yes, for some users or some GOG games those are not enough?

For some reason the integrity check pops up twice every time. It doesn't seem to change with UAC on or off.

But it's something i can deal with. It doesn't mess up my games, just a minor niggle.

For me it always (IIRC) seems to go like this, at least on my two different Win7/64bit PCs:

If i simply (left) double-click the setup_<game_name>.exe file, it does the integrity check twice before starting the actual installation.

If I right-click on the setup_<game_name>.exe file and select "Run as administrator", the integrity check is performed only once before starting the actual installation.

Other than that, so far I haven't seen any difference between the two methods, but I guess it is more foolproof to select the second one, "Run as administrator".

I have helped a couple of folks where the integrity check would hang. Skipping it, the game still would not install correctly. Disabling UAC eliminated the problem and allowed a successful install.

Those were exceptions as most don't need to disable UAC. Can't say why it happens for some . . OS, hardware, AV interference, possibly a certain firewall along with UAC???? Not being able to get your hands on the box makes it difficult to determine the true cause.

I found it easier to use standard install steps rather than backtrack a failed install. Some folks get angry if your suggestions don't result in instant gratification. . . =)
