It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

bazilisek: The English one. Tried the main page (www.wikipedia.org), too. No blackout whatsoever.
Odd indeed (although the main page should work normally I think). My main problem with wiki today however is that it seems to be working really slow. Or maybe my ISP is protesting as well and did not inform me. ;)

Paradoks: Which language version are you looking at? It's only English part that is blacking out I think.

I hear you need to have a US ip.

I don't have a US IP, still blackouts.

You don't. The English language Wikipedia is blacked out for me too.
I honestly believe an obscene of amount of users even on sites like RPS never paid any attention to this issue until now. I'd like to say maybe this will wake people up, but I have low opinions in the pro activeness of the average American.
They should get a few porn pages to join, that would rise the masses ;-).

My mistake. I hadn't checked Wikipedia, yet. The blackout FAQ thing itself states that it's universally blacked out. I watched some random youtube video earlier that said that you need to have a US ip address for it to matter. I can actually open some en.wikipedia pages if I keep refreshing them, but the loading takes ages.

/edit: ...aaand after minutes, when they finally load completely, they go black. Nevermind :p

google answer was just to put a small link? they could at least make it more flashy so people actually would see it.
Take a look at this:
"Protest SOPA - Pirate Digitanks

Today is Internet Blackout Day, in protest of SOPA. To do my small part in the protest I encourage everybody to pirate Digitanks for free. If this legislation passes then I won’t be able to make a living on the internet, so you may as well pirate my games. You can find a pirated version of Digitanks here:

http://vinoisnotouzo.com/Digitanks-1.2.1.torrent

I’m not asking you to buy the game if you like it. Hell I’m not even asking you to play it. Just download it, and pass the word on to your friends. Already own Digitanks? Download it again, just for kicks. There is no DRM on the original version of Digitanks, so this is really just the install files from the game, same as you would get if you bought it.

“But wait Vino,” I hear you say. “It’s not really pirating if you pirate your own game, is it?” My response to you is, “Shut up you nut fucker and pirate my damn game.” Or do you like SOPA?

You can also help protest SOPA by contacting your congressperson. For more info visit any Wikipedia page today."
Anyone wanting to use wikipedia without turning off anything.

When you search for an page and as soon as it appears chick the stop loading button (or refresh) button and the page should stay before the blackout message appears.

shadi.lahham: Why is it that lately humblebundle seems much much better than GOG in every aspect ??
It's all well and good as a company to have views on wide reaching issues such as this, and it's all well and good to try and bring attention of such to your customer base, but it's never a good idea to inconvenience your customers, however slight that inconvenience may be, in order to impart your own views. As simply put, most of your customers won't care about why you're doing it. All they will care about is that you inconvenienced them.

So it's fine that the HIB guys are doing it, as they aren't likely to be inconveniencing anyone. After all, how many people actually visit their site when they aren't selling a bundle. Or in other words, how many people actually use the HIB site similarly to GOG in order to actually store their downloads? I'd expect most buy, download/add to Steam immediately then don't come back until the next bundle. Whereas with GOG, the filesize of the games can be significantly larger and people tend to use the fact that they can download anytime as a comfort for not being able to always keep local backups...

Oh and as far as Wikipedia goes, if you have no-script and haven't added Wikipedia as an always allowed site, you'll not even notice the blackout as Javascript will be disabled by default.

You can bypass the HIB blackout by clicking on the little X on the screen. So there's that.
