WhiteElk: You should change ALL passwords.
Yep. Don't forget that all your 'forgotten password' emails probably go to that same email address, correct? Meaning if someone's got access to your email account then they could potentially gain access to all your accounts linked to that email - and the information therein.

As a side note, I recently received a password reset request email from GOG. At least it seems to be from GOG. I did change my password. But not through that email.
Reminds of the time I was getting calls from prospective employers who saw my listing on monster.com. I never registered with that site. So someone registered with my name, phone number, and who knows what else....

DrIstvaan: Update: I managed to change my Hotmail password (I found a solution in the Help Center), so unless he can guess it, my "alter ego" cannot access it anymore, and because I also changed the FB account password, he cannot log in there, either.
Now I only need to know how to delete a FB account.
You can either deactivate or close your account. I had deactivated mine since 2007 but I could always log in whenever I wanted and it had saved everything.

A month ago I decided to just try to find if there's a way to delete it, so I wrote "how can I delete my facebook account" in facebook's help search engine (upper right corner something, can't remember) and it took me to a place of the website (obviously very hidden, I doubt you can actually go there by searching your account info and preferences and stuff) where I had the option to delete/close my account. Once I did it, I was notified that my account would be deleted if I didn't log in again within the next 14 days, which I didn't.

Haven't tried to log back in, to see if it was bogus though.
On this Facebook FAQ page there are instructions for deleleting an account permanently. I don't know how well it works though, as I have never tried it myself.

you just click the "this isn't me" link in the first email he got :P
You can delete an account on FB (at least you could a few years ago).

But for the records, we potentially all on FB since FB has what is called phantom accounts. If your sister and a friend of yours posted a status "had fun fishing with [your name]" and a picture of you with other friends, there will be a phantom account of [your name] who is friend with your sister and your friend and whose hobby is fishing.

FB account can still be deleted - it's just hidden behind loads of bs. You have to request it, and you can do it here:

clicking the this isn't me in the first email skips all that and deletes the account I had to do it last month so I know it works :P
It could be worse. Your boss could tell you that your next task is to add facebook integration to the company website while the social networking coordinator (are you kidding me, that's a job title?) harasses you when things don't look exactly right.

been there and pointed out that the data protection act meant having to jump through a load of hoops... the next day there was no social networking person in the company ;)

Oh, I'd love to work as the ANTI-social networking coordinator. :D

Not that I want to find out - I'm quite happy with everything that FB can offer me right now :D

Who knows, maybe twenty years ago people were thinking the same thing about the internet. I mean, how many people have said back then "we don't need a homepage"....
This is always an option I like to consider... ;-)
