dirtyharry50: Well I think I am going to get Generations, the Kart racing game and Sonic CD.
I'm still on the fence about getting 1, 2 and 3 where they are so old and I'm wondering how well the Steam versions run and play on Windows 7. Anybody know about that? From some of the comments above it sounds like these ones are well worth having some fun with too if they work alright.
Foxhack: They don't run on DOSBox, they run using the Sega Classics emulator, which is a native Windows program. I ah, um, tried it out a bit ago and it kinda sucks. Not only is it horribly optimized, it tends to lag on bits with lots of action (in my experience) but that might've been due to my sucky video card.
But again, these games aren't worth $2.50. They're worth $1 at most.
Have to disagree. $2.49 each is a great deal if you don't have a Genesis/Mega Drive. Sonic 1+2+3 are great classics. Considering Sonic 4 in all its suckiness is $9.99, $2.50 for quality Sonic games sounds pretty good.
I have Vectorman with the Sega Classics Emulator and it runs fine even in hectic areas. The best thing to do if games struggle on your machine would be to buy the games but download the roms and use the Fusion Emulator. That emulator works great even with terrible integrated graphics.
Sonic CD is fun although getting up to 88 mph has been a struggle so through four zones, I still haven't created a good future. Easily worth the $3.74 I paid but Sonic 2 still has it beat.
