Getting closer to release. Gamersgate added (unused serial key) next to Sonic CD on my shelf. Of course when you click on it there's no key but it's a good sign. Another good sign is the fact that Sonic CD changed from test app to full entry in the Steam registry.

I figure it's one more week at most now.
Sega has announced according to Eurogamer that Sonic Generations DLC, Sonic CD and Sonic Ep. 1 is being released today on PC.

It's still "Out now" on the product page, but Steam still doesn't have any mention of it, even though it's apparently a steam game.

I hope it does actually come out but it's already tomorrow in over a third of the world and threatening to be after bed time in much of the rest of the world.

Sega posted on their blog that Sonic CD, Spiral Knights sonic costumes, Generations DLC and Ep. 1 is out today on steam. There will also be a sonic steam sale.

It will probably be released in 7 minutes or be the weekend deal in six hours.

It's out, although GG apparently hasn't been given their keys by Valve yet. I'm not sure I would have bought it there if they had actually disclosed whom the 3rd party DRM represented.

What did you hope for? That is was Origin or GFWL?

Given SEGA's use of steamowrks for their new games coupled with their features page saying steam achievements, it seemed clear to me that it was steam.

Gamersgate also lists GFWL and Origin titles as other DRM.

G4WL, it's barely DRMed at all typically. Once you've got it downloaded there's very little to it. For instance it doesn't typically call home the way that Steam does and that's going to be a big deal for me next year when I'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to connect my laptop directly to the net at all.
I pre-ordered on GamersGate, but since the keys weren't up yet and my patience had long ago ran thin, I bought it on Steam. I'm selling my GamersGate copy for $4 if anybody is interested.

Good thing Gamersgate allows you to gift unused copies of a game. All DD stores should do that.

I'm a little annoyed but given the 25% discount when I ordered it and the additional pre-order coins that allowed me to get Vectorman for free, I can forgive them.

Technically this is Valve's fault.

Personally, I'm miffed because I was hoping to have Sonic CD to play whilst I wait for my Passport and Visa to not arrive because it wasn't on the Fed Ex truck willing to deliver to my street.

That works for all the other SEGA titles. It's just fucking annoying that I even have to do that when there is no real decent reason as to why it's like this in the first place.

Valve are happy to sell the old Mega Drive Sonic games to us, are happy to sell the Sonic racing game to us, but won't sell the Dream Cast games or the others. It's even more stupid when you see that some of the titles they aren't selling have full Japanese localization!

And as usual they then hide the fact from us that there is even a sale on "select" Sonic titles.
