So 2011 is upon us and with that sonic's 20th anniversary

Due to this, let's not forget the long rumored "Sonic ultimate collection" that will feature every "classic" sonic game ever, as a fan of the blue hedgehog, who is also known as: "fastest thing alive" I personally am really excited about this and really curious as to what SEGA can bring us for this anniversary

I am guessing that we will get all the 2D sonic games + sonic adventure DX for PS3 and 360 but we shall see

So what do you think about this? Opinions?
I think I'll probably buy Sonic 4 episode 1 for the 360.

and I think I'll just wait for the inevitable disk release with all 4 episodes - thank you

I've been waiting for that as well. I really like the demo however, and want more soon.
Never has a mascot been so utterly abused by both the company it fronts and its own fans as Sonic has. That poor blue bastard.

This is so true, why is it that when people talk about franchises being Milked and abused they always mention sonic/call of duty etc and yet those people seem to forget that the number of games that Star or Feature mario is over 200 now

not to mention that mario sucks anyway as a character and has the personality of a brick

For one thing I don't think that Mario has featured in as many outright terrible games over the years. Even if he has there's been plenty of good ones to counterbalance. I don't think that the same can be said of Sonic.

Also I don't think that the fan abuse of Mario is even in the same ballpark. You see, Mario doesn't attract in the furfags the way Sonic does. What has been seen cannot be unseen.

I'm pretty sure Mario has been in just as many flops as hits and Nintendo shamelessly wheel him out far more than Sega bring out Sonic. The biggest problem with Sonic has been how to transition him into 3D. Nintendo arguably got it right first time with Super Mario 64 but then they have Miyamoto. Translating the speed of Sonic has been much harder to do especially on older hardware. They flat out gave up on the Saturn.

As for the furfags I see your Sonic and raise you Starfox.

On the other hand, as much as I'm likely to get Sonic 4, I do want a Wii solely for the new Super Mario Bros.

Did that seriously exist or is it a 'shop? In any case one game doesn't really compare to Sonic's... damn near everything since Sonic 2.

True. But look at what happens each and every time Sega wheel out Sonic. Mario might not be a mark of quality. But Sonic is the mark of a truly shit game.

As for Starfox, when it comes to sheer volume of furfaggotry I don't think it even comes close to Sonic. When I say Sonic has been brutally raped non stop for over a decade I'm not talking in some dumbass euphemistic sense.

that game is real and it's extremely rare but it does exist

in any case, I would prefer if people stopped talking about these things - this thread is to discuss Sonic anniversary and future sonic games, if you want to start discussions about something else (which series sucks etc) - please make another thread for that

Mario isn't as abused is why. The sonic games didn't really do much evolving before Sega went under as a console maker. Whereas in the span of his release to the N64 you saw a huge evolution in terms of game play.

Sure, Mario ends up in a lot of bad games, but virtually all of those are a result of Nintendo needing another character for people to play as.
