and who is the one "banging on about it"....

AFAIK these are all from Groupees, so while I may not like it, I have no objections.

Thank you very much for continuous personal attacks. As you keep pointing out - very mature.

edit - gave you a - 1 on that, just because of pure annoyance.

Oh, it's "just" Groupees, so all of a sudden your moral high-and-mightiness no longer applies.

Personal attacks? No, you're just predictable as fuck, since you've derailed just about every other thread of this nature.

Knock yourself out if it makes you feel better, but you have some nerve accusing me of annoyance. Pot, kettle, black and all that.

I am so glad you have read and understood my arguments before. Make whatever you say so much more believable. Thank you very much.

I still do not like this types of giveaways, I still consider partial key sharing and sharing keys from own bundles as immoral. But so far it is only HB and Indie Royale who actively asks the user to please not do so. This is a matter of something you apparently know very little about - respect and honoring your word. Groupees and Indie Gala so far do not ask this of you, so it is not in my right to demand it either, just as much as I respect HB and IR I also respect Groupees and IG for their choice. So even if I do not like it, and wish it did not happen here, I do hold my tongue.

I saw this thread before, did not even care about it before you "predicatively" had to call me. The only threads I have derailed is those with giveaways from HB and IR. You may have some problems with your perception and a bit of bias showing.

NR but thanks and +1 for the giveaway. :)
I am honestly interested in why anyone would consider this to be "immoral." This, to me, seems no different than "Hey, I bought this cd/book/boxed game and already have it, so here, take my extra copy." The key was paid for and not needed, so passed on.

I was simply curious why anyone would object. I'll be honest and say I wonder why HB objects, as it merely gets more exposure to both HB and the game given and costs them nothing extra. I don't know enough about Indie Royale to comment. If not for mentions in threads like these (and no, I never have claimed a key from one) I would not have even known HB existed and would never have signed up for an account there.

PS Sorry for encouraging the derail....
I got these from BundleStars.com. According to their FAQ -

"I already own some of the games in the bundle, can I give these games to a friend?

Yes, you can pass on the individual Steam® keys to a friend to redeem. Please remember that each Steam® key can only be redeemed once."

I assume it's the same deal for the Desura key since it doesn't mention those.

There are 3 arguments here

The first is the legal. It can be argued that all these giveaways are illegal, that the sale of licenses are between the seller (HB, IR, Groupees etc) and the buyer (one party). The keys which are given are not the same as a license, but an "allowance" to use a service for them. It therefore follows that legally the license do not follow the keys, and if a third party activates them, download and use a game with them, they are playing a game they do not actually own a license for. In a roundabout way... and I am very bad at lawyer speak...

The second is the moral / ethical. Both IR and HB selles you these bundles with the understanding that you are to treat your bundle as one unit - which is why they are able to sell them as bundles. For this they ask you to please not split the bundle up, share or give away keys. They both have a system in place if you want to give the bundles away (and it is cheap....) if you want to be generous, but you buy it on this understanding. For me, this is giving your word that you will do so, and the seller trust you to be decent. I would not break my word, nor the trust given to me, regardless of the legal argument or not (I am a bit strange that way, I still consider these things important, even though the rest of the world do not. I am probably just too old fashioned..)

Thirdly - HB and IR also tends to give the user more choice in how they want the games (DRM Free or Steam or Desura keys), and it is therefore much more open for abuse (keep DRM free, give away keys). Groupees have a choice on a few games only, and IG almost never, and they are therefore not so open to abuse and do not therefore do not care so much. I wish they did...

Apologies for the wall of text :)

Nice personal attack there, btw giving away games from those bundles who's TOS include a no pass on section (HB and IR) is breach of contract... losing you all right to those games...

Just because You say it, doesn't mean people are going to abide by it. Still +1

I should have made it more clear that I understand why it would be unethical to give away individual games from HB and Indie Royale if one agrees not to do so at the time of purchase. I was referring more to other sites, including this pack specifically.
I think the best way to support HB and IR when people give away their games is to simply decline the offer. If you want the games, buy the bundle. To take a moral stand for companies that they don't even take themselves

"Groupees and Indie Gala so far do not ask this of you, so it is not in my right to demand it either, just as much as I respect HB and IR I also respect Groupees and IG for their choice. So even if I do not like it, and wish it did not happen here, I do hold my tongue."

seems a bit over-the-top, even if you only spend mental energy on it. Maybe they don't ask it because they don't care if people give away keys, so you don't have to expend the energy to "not like it, and wish it did not happen here."

Ah, well, not sure what to say... I personally do not like it and think it is wrong, but I respect IG and Grouppes enought to not make a case out of it when I see it.... it is really all I can say... Not sure what the question is about then. Because I do not like it, and it is a form of piracy (but a much more dishonest one, in my opinion) which is rampant, then I will point it out when I can (HB and IR giveaways). All it is costing me is rep-points really, which is of no value :)

But at least I have a very clear conscience and I feel I am not going on against on my own personal convictions (even though people yell at me a lot for it). What was the saying? "Stand firm for your principles, even if you stand alone".
