Anyone know anything about the company "Sold Out Software"? I'm thinking about grabbing Pharaoh Gold and Zeus: Masters of Olympus, but I've learned to be wary of secondhand -game publishers. Some of them *cough*cinema marquee*cough* have really crappy packaging. Also, I know many of the versions of these games are UK versions, which won't necessarily work with US expansions.

I can only talk from a danish point of view - I got the double pack with Broken sword 1+2 from them and it arrived fast in perfect condition and played fine :)

I have Hidden and Dangerous 2 Sold Out edition, also plays fine, no problem applying the lastest patch.It is just a dvd box and a medium, not much else though.I payed 5 pounds for it.

Deus Ex and Worms worked fine for me.

I have Mafia and Thief: Deadly Shadows from "Sold out Software". I have no problems with either games.

I have bought many Sold-out games, and only ever had a problem with one of them, which i believe was the original army men. Apart from that, never had any problems with them. Nothing fancy, just the disc/discs in a DVD case, manual on the disc, but they work. I believe the same company puts out the PC Gamer range, (games that have scored over 80% from PC Gamer magazine, as well as the MAD range. Same format of distribution, but generally newer games. Hope this helps.

I actually wanted to pick up some games from them. They have a pretty decent catalogue of games to choose from, and the shipping isn't all bad either

What's the DRM situation like? Same setup as most other retail discs?

Fallout doesn't require the disc to play, however Hitman 2 does. Could be that whatever protection originally was in the game is still there. I've bought a good deal of games from them and they didn't mess my PC so far.

Sold Out are defunct now I think - replaced by Mastertronic.
Anyway, their releases are good. The packagings not great but it's not crap either. My shelf here is full of their re-released titles. Go for it.

I've got Might & Magic VII and Army Men 2 from them. I think the menu or whatever that shows up when it autoruns is crap, but otherwise it's OK. Both of those I've got have disc-in-drive DRM, no biggie IMO, just annoying.
