Roman5: Wow, I had no idea some people here had such an immature and negative attitude

Starmaker: Immature? Really? Look who's talking. Name one well-known work of art with anthropomorphic animals that isn't popularly acknowledged to be "kiddie stuff" except Maus. Even the ponies walk on all fours.
Wizardry 8 is a work of art

Luisfius: Blacksad. Inspector Canardo.
That was a question for Roman5, as in, "Can I, honestly, off the top of my head, name something with anthropomorphic animals that's actually for adults, not to mention acknowledge I have read/watched it and like it and not just claim to like it for cred", not me challenging everyone in the world to list examples.
Good to see that the game is getting a sequel. :)

Please define and specify what do you mean, when you say "For Adults"

Primary audience, or intended audience as evidenced by age recommendations and restrictions, test audiences, marketing, purchased ad space, lack of kiddie merch, is people 18 and up. So, Steamboat Willie is (was?) for adults, Kingdom Hearts is for kids.
Hm. There is some stuff with anthropomorphic beings that is worth watching in my opinion. Maturity is in the eye of the beholder, though I will say that basing the concept on marketing data seems misguided. I would say that craftsmanship and how the material carries itself is far more important in determining the nature of it. Something like Astro Boy may look childish to Westerners, but Tezuka's creation is very much about the friction between humans and robots, and what it means to be sentient.

To start with, I recommend Spice & Wolf. An anime, it follows a merchant as he wanders across Europe with his friend, Horo. She is a wolf goddess of the harvest, and can assume a human form while retaining ears and tail. Pretty good.

Next up is Secret of Nimh. Probably one of Don Bluth's best efforts, as it has an excellent art style and is very atmospheric. The movie is dark, but it has a child-like wonder to it that further accentuates the bright and darker moments.

The Last Unicorn is anthropomorphic in the sense that a unicorn is turned into a human girl, but is returned to her true form at the end of the film. A fairytale movie, one of the notable aspects is how as a unicorn the main character is unchanging and everlasting. She loses that quality as a human, which fundamentally makes her different from all other unicorns. She now knows love, and the bittersweet regret that comes with that.

To sum up, I recommend:
*The Last Unicorn
*Spice & Wolf
*The Secret of Nimh

Much as I like seeing you put Roman5 on the hot seat, I have to wonder, what is it that you're driving at? We're all adults here. Even the "kiddiest" of "kiddie stuff" is made by adults, and I'd wager most of those adults don't loathe what they create. Is there some problem with enjoying things that aren't aimed strictly at adult audiences?

I mean, I like surviving a zombie apocalypse and working for a corrupt drug lord as much as the next guy, but I'll know I've gotten far too old when I stop wanting to watch cartoons and play games with anthropomorphic characters. Not that it matters. All that seemingly died with the 90's, and realism won. You won. You get enough WWII, zombies, and elves to choke a dragon. Any game with anthropomorphic characters that aren't Sonic related is a cause for celebration these days.

Used to be a substantial number of cartoons like Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Tiny Toons, and all of that as well, and none of them in CGI or flash or any of that nonsense. I miss all that. It was a lot of fun, always managed to put me in a pretty good mood.

Of course not. But there *is* a problem with declaring other people "immature" for dismissing specific types of entertainment that are statistically much more likely to be aimed at children.

1. Dehumanization is not a shallow reason. My specific reason is more comprehensively detailed in the design document for Dead Man's Hand, which google fails to find right now, so I'll just provide this quote (haha public domain ftw):
And every time you have real human beings replaced with some sort of specifically non-human creature that on some level cheapens them. No matter what kind of magic powers you ascribe to them, the fact is that you're making them "non-human". On some level they just aren't as worthy in your story as they actually are in real life.
2. Notice how two furry fans, Roman5 and you, started insulting people for not liking something in this thread. That's why you're an idiot.
I'm sorry, I'm just open minded and like variety in my fantasy themed video games, real life designs have their place, but If everything followed the same generic human template, things would get pretty damn boring.

That quote is laughable, only someone with no ability to embrace anything outside of reality would say something so ridiculous, the words of a fool with an arrogant, human superiority complex. A well written character can be just as believable and emotionally engaging as any other regardless of physical appearance.

I feel sorry for people with such a biased, limited view like yours.

Okay then. Next time you express that you dislike a certain work or style I like I will just call you an idiot. Seems to be the appropriate thing to do in your opinion.
