Yesterday I went to my psycologyst because for the past 5 years I've been dealing with social anxiety and it's something that I want to go away.
She said to me that go with baby steps and asked if I participate in any forum, which I told her about GOG, so she suggested to me that I started reviewing games that I own here.
Unfortunetly, I don't know how to review games. So when I start publishing reviews here or in the game pages, I'll get things wrong or just make a fool of myself.
so yeah, later I might put here my first game review(and maybe my last) about South Park: The Stick of Truth.
But I would also like some advice on how I can open up to people again.

There is no right way or wrong way. Just write some text you think might be valuable to people who might be interested in the game. :)

Don't worry about being perfect.

You're not Mr. Perfect!

Anyway, yeah, just write out whatever info you think people need to know, and write in a style you're comfortable with.
Two of my main keys to anxiety killing...

One - Learn to laugh at things. Life is pretty ridiculous. Sometimes even the bad stuff that piles up on you can be funny. As the Joker said, 'why so serious?' Keeping a good sense of humor is akin to keeping a good outlook.

Two - Get involved with something that interests you and stay keen on learning as much as you can about it. Sure, it can get kind of OCD, but a good hobby is healthy to mind and body. If gaming is your bag, go for it. Get into reviewing, analysis, making mods, whatever. Just learn to enjoy life and not take yourself so seriously.

Well, as long as you write your own opinions which to yourself feel honest, you cant really do review "wrong".

Review is after all a persons opinion of game. Someone will love a game for reason X and another one will hate the game for the very same reason.

You cant always please everyone and to be precise there is no reason for you to try to please everyone either. People are different, like and dislike different things, react to things in different way:

Thus as long as you think youre being honest to yourself, what reason is there to be afraid of offending someone or "failing" anything?

Anyways, even if one "fails" there is more to learn from "failing" than to learn from not doing anything at all.

chin up!
There's also the harsh reality that people learn best by screwing things up and sorting it out as they go. With that in mind, it's a good idea to see what reviews other people write to get ideas but remember their way of expressing their ideas won't be yours, only you can find out your way of writing. You'll eventually find your style and what works best for you and you won't get it right on the first try so I wouldn't fret over it. Just get some ideas, give it a go, reflect on your work, work with what you like and change what you don't like, and continue from there. :)

On a serous note you could start writing reviews for games you've never played or even heard of and thus get a job with GameSpot.

First, I want to wish you strength and willpower strong enough to battle your social anxiety. :)

Second, I don't think one needs special skills to write reviews on sites like GOG, Steam, etc, after all you are telling people your own experience with the game. :)

To make it easier to write that review, that is to spend less time thinking what others will say about your review, think about the review as if you are writing a long note to your future self about why he should/shouldn't replay the game and try to focus on remembering your experience with the game and writing about that. Also try to post it immediately after you check the grammar the first time, so that you don't have enough time to talk yourself out of it.

That's hilarious. I can't honestly remember the last time I went to that dump of a game site. Mainstream gaming sites have become a running in-joke. What a sad, bloated thing they've become. Don't you just love the downside of bell curves?

You know, this is probably just your social anxiety messing with your head. This is exactly the kind of thought that makes social anxiety such a debilitating condition: You avoid doing things purely due to an overwhelming fear of failure.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. That's social anxiety talking.

Most people do most things wrong or annoyingly. That's being human. But most people are good at looking past those faults and seeing the golden nugget of a person you really are. So don't give in to your perfectionism.

And I'm totally with your pschobabylist. Baby steps and gaming forums for the win!
