After what seems to be an eternity, I finally managed to obtain a GOOD video card - a Radeon HD 6850. It's a yearish old but it works okay... for the most part. I'm still seeing a bit of frame drops on many games but that's probably because my CPU is holding things back.

Anyway! Now that I have a decent video card, what should I play? I got a ton of good games in the meantime, in hopes of being able to grab a decent card someday. And now I have.

Right now I'm finishing up Borderlands: Claptrap's Robot Revolution (so I can finally put that game to rest and call it complete!), but once I'm done with that... here's the games I want to play:

Deus Ex Human Revolution --
I didn't get very far on the original games because of my crappy video card. Should I play this before the originals?

Doom III / Quake IV --
Ditto above.

The Last Remnant --
It took me ten minutes to get to this point on my old video card.

Mass Effect 1 / 2 --
Sorry, I'm busy doing these calibrations. I actually made it up to the first appearance of the robot things on the first game before my older video card died on me.

Batman: Arkham Asylum --
Because HE'S THE GODDAMN BATMAN

Any other suggestions from my Steam library (it's a link to my VGCollect profile since Steam messed up their game library display) are appreciated. :)
All of the above, in that order.

Man I'm useful.
I share your pain. Though its not quite as bad for me, its a tricky game and the lack of keyboard screen prompts in battle confuses me (press square - press square - - I don't have a square what the heck key did I set - oh wait its passed) so I've never gotten that far.

Now if you gota card that can run it smooth - go for it!

Otherwise - Bastion :)

not until you get me a beer and clean the house
Deus Ex HR is a prequel and an amazing one. It won't adversely affect your enjoyment of it to play this one first. Although there are a few knowing nods towards the earlier two games in there. It's not in any way mandatory to have played them.
Batman. And, looking at the first page of you Steam library, Call of Cthulhu. (I assume you haven't played it?)
Arkham Asylum is an amazing game all around. It would be my first recommendation as a Batman fan.

Human Revolution was fun. Fun fact: Both HR and AA have pointless hacking minigames but AA's only takes a second. HR doesn't let you play the character exactly how you want to but AA gives you the closest thing to being Batman short of putting on your Batman jammies and busting skulls.

Not that I have or am currently wearing those.

Already beat it, I was working on the second playthrough to get the other ending.

Nope, I got it when I purchased the QuakeCon pack a while back.

My only advice would be, if it works on the Steam version, to get that patcher and increase your movement speed a bit. Otherwise you move painfully slow, which is both annoying, and the ending is apparently nigh impossible at your normal speed.

I love CoC:DCotE
If I were you, I'd probably play Portal 2, unless you did that already, but since it's still quite new, I'd assume your old video card prevented you from enjyoing it?

Anyway, that's not really a recommendation since I haven't played it myself, but if I'd already own it like you do, plus own a video card that could run it, I'd definitely think of that one first. I only read good things about it, even several comments like "Best game of the year", and I currently enjoy playing the predecessor. :)
I'd say play them like this:

1. Batman AA
2. Deus Ex HR
3. Mass Effect series (but only if you're willing to go Origin or Console for part 3)
4. Doom 3

Cannot comment on Quake 4 or Last Remnant

I already beat Portal 2. I got a card in a trade (which died on me a month ago) but I managed to play through the single portion part of the game. I didn't get all the achievements, though.
Batman, or Mass Effect, or Doom 3, or Deus Ex, all good choices really!
watch all 2 or 3 hours of this. Then play VVVVVV. The video helps put into perspective how annoying it could have been.
