Pretty much the same thing here

Tried the 3DS and while the 3D effect is pretty nice/cool in some spots I cannot imagine looking at this for more than 10-20 minutes

It'll be really interesting to see what Sony can Come up with, let's just hope we get more 3RD party support

The reason I never want a Sony portable is that I have little interest in scaled-down versions of PS3 games. 'Killzone Portable' is not my cuppa.

Got my 3DS and Rayman 3D yesterday. The 3D seems odd at first, your brain doesn't really expect a screen to look like that.

With time though you get more used to it, and it really does enhance the look of Rayman. There are some pop-out effects on occasion, but 98% of the time the effect is used to give depth to the scene, like looking through a window, as opposed to having things jump out at you.

It's nice, a definite upgrade over my weedy DS Lite. Even sans the 3D it's an upgrade. I'd wait a few months for the eShop and browser to get added via firmware update, as well as a few more solid titles. The 3DS launch lineup is basically as bad as the original DS lineup.

If it wasn't for the fact I'd be paying Sony, their next portable looks pretty beefy. I like the hardware and the potential. We'll need some awesome people to unlock it for us so we can actually use our devices as we please.

They managed to not test battery life with a traditional DS game, which seems like it might be a huge deal for most people. Any word on battery life playing DS games? What about playing the scaled verus "letterboxed" (or whatever they call it).

I've seen several battery tests with standard DS games, battery life is drastically improved with those, around 7-8 hours, so about the same as current DS iterations.

I've tried Sonic Rush, Picross and Elite Beat Agents, and the letterboxed mode is small, simply because they are low res games running on much higher res screens.

The standard upscaled mode for DS games looks fine in actual practice, but things like text are a little fuzzy if you look closely.

I don't like this thing, I had a look at it at my local Gamestation store and... I dunno, I guess I'm just weird or something (ok I AM weird but anyways...) the thing just doesn't work right with me. I look at it and it just looks like my vision is going kinda cross-eyed - I fiddle with the 3d setting and it justs look less cross-eyed - then it goes normal 2d.

I'm just not seeing 3d. :/

So my gaming life has gone from colecovision to crosseyevision, and not quite the way my mum claimed it would :)

It's basic mathematics, a NDS games will always look worse on a 3DS than it does on a real NDS, the 3DS resolution is 1.25 time larger vertically and 1.66 or 2.1 times bigger horizontally, you can invent "demi-pixel" and the resolution difference is too small for any efficient filtering so games will either look small or blurry.

At least they had the Mario 64 remake/port for the launch of the DS. The 3DS doesn't even have one game that interests me. My brother has Ridge Racer, Pilotwings and Street Fighter and I've played the first two. While nice, there doesn't seem to be any depth to either of them.

At least this time the Rayman 3D port is good and fills that niche pretty well, but seriously the launch lineup for Nintendo portables has been crappy for ages. Give it a few months.

That's pretty terrible. GBA and GB Color weren't much better.

It's not dodgy, it's just Rayman 2 with nothing else to recommend it, which seems to be bugging a lot of people.

I was perfectly happy with Super Mario 64 DS and Feel the Magic.

What the HECK am I supposed to get this time around? I even have the Amazon credit, but I don't want to pay even $15 for any of the games. Shadow Wars is just a gimped version of an Xbox game, right? So what, what am I supposed to get? Pilotwings uses the freaking island from Wii Sports Resort for crying out loud. I hear Super Monkey Ball has an embarrassing amount of levels that are embarrassingly easy, which goes against everything that is good about the series. I almost bought it without reading about it... glad I didn't get burned there.

Sit on it and wait for the incoming better titles? I mean you did know what you were getting into before you got the thing, the launch titles have been announced for some time.

Shadow Wars is the turn-based game by the X-COM guy which is getting decent reviews, you're thinking of Splinter Cell.

Your credit should be good for a year, wait until Zelda or something comes out. Check the offer details, but Amazon.com almost always lets credits sit for a year. Unless they restricted it to only launch titles, you'll be able to get a 3DS game later on with it.
