Edit 3: (thought I'd make this one clearly visible) Thank you to everyone who helped me to reconsider my decision :) Below is the updated list of codes left available. Please ask, even if you have asked before in this thread or via PM as I've lost track of requests and handed out codes where I felt they should go. I won't be offended by anyone asking again if they have already asked, just as I hope you won't be offended if your request goes ignored(be it intentionally or unintentionally :P). My preference is to gift to people who have not gotten anything from me before, or at least not for some time.
GOG Games
All games given away - happy gaming (or shelf collecting) :)
Today marks 3 years and 3 days of being a member of this site. There's my lucky number 33 again :) Thanks guys for some wonderfully enjoyable times here. In order for this place to be the place I once loved would require significant changes to how the forums operate. Yes I realise that I have brought this upon myself by taking a look into the history of the site since I had an extended break from the forums and I've realised that my energy is best directed to other aspects of life.
So with that in mind, I'd like to give away some GOG games that I purchased recently. The gifts will go to those I feel is appropriate, and this is not based on rep, join date or contact with me. It is based purely on what feels right to me.
So add whichever games interest you. Don't be scared to ask! Add a bunch if you like and I wont consider that to be greed but to merely give me the opportunity to spread them around a bit as I'd like to pass these on and go back to focusing on other aspects of life sooner rather than later. Visiting here is an unpleasant reminder of aspects of humanity that I avoid as often as possible. I can't help but call people on their bullshit. That is my nature. When those I care about support that bullshit, and the forums are set up in a way to make it easy to do so, my choice is to avoid it.
You can reply in this thread or via PM to request. I won't be posting who gets what or why. I might also add the 100 or so Steam and Desura codes that I have spare too if I can be bothered to collate them.
If you'd like to stay in touch via other means, shoot me a PM :)
Edit: I'm off to sleep. Will check back tomorrow if I have time and will wait for a few responses before starting to dish out the codes, unless of course you jump out as one of those people I've had a great time on GOG with and would really like to enjoy one or more of these games.
I'd like the copies of Legend of Grimrock and Aarklash in particular to go to people I will still be in touch with as those are the 2 games on my next to play list and I'd love to chat about the games whilst playing them. I started Legend of Grimrock yesterday and it is the exact nostalgic trip I was after reminding me of the Eye of the Beholder series.
Edit 1 - Suggestions for forum changes I am reconsidering my decision purely due to the overhwelming replies I have had via PM and in this thread. I am taking time, where able given my time being a bit more limited, to find a balanced path forward where I don't say "screw you guys, I'm going home" <3
Edit 2 - Thanks for those who took the time to read and respond via this thread or PM. I have found that a little clarification can go a long way, as a few messaged me thinking that my initial decision to leave was based on individual interactions or made assumptions about my reasons.
To put things in perspective: I had a great time during the Insomnia sale and as well-versed as I am with missing sleep, given my mental instability, I should know better than to miss as much sleep as I did. Those enjoyable manic highs are often followed by severe crashes, especially if I look into the not so pleasant aspects of human interaction, as I ended up doing.
I prefer the more balanced version of myself, but that being can take some pendulous swinging to find, and the core realisation every time when I find that version of "me", the "problems" I see have more to do with myself and my perception of a shared reality than any external reason.
