No they aren't going to make Rage console-only. It's not that bleak yet, but from the looks of it, it's just a matter of time...

Read: regenerating health, controller in mind
Raaage.
The corruption of id by Bethesda has begun.

It hurts me to see my favorite childhood company do this :/.
I stopped reading after regenerating health. Fuck that nonsense.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't give a monkeys about that then? Besides, I'm expecting this to be more of a great engine than an exciting game. After all, Doom 3 looked fantastic but really wasn't very special when it came to the actual game.
I mean, yes, you can use the mouse for it but it's critical that the controller be the way that we design the game.

Sanity fail.
Screw them.
Doom 3 and Quake 4 were crap anyways, so it seems that ID is dead for me.
They want me to buy a controller to play their game properly, I'll give 'em a finger in return. Simple as that.

Quake 4 was made by Raven, which incidentally is making the new Wolfenstein game.
But ARGLEBEH! Hope they still make the game moddable...
D: This just makes me sad.
At least EA is actually creating a Battlefield 1943 that's tailored to the PC.
I don't really mind regenerating health either; sure, I too enjoy a real challenge where if you mess up you die, but I am fine with some diversity to this formula as well. Personally, I'm still interested in Rage; racing, gunning and exploring in a post apocalyptic wasteland is hardly original, but it does undeniably sound like fun. ;)
As for "controller in mind" controls, as long as I can use my keyboard and mouse, and as long as they are as responsive as always, I really don't give a damn. Remember; Id is a business, and they need to go where they can find most costumers, and right now, that's with cross-platform co-developing. It wouldn't make sense for them to be fanboys of any one system, because like it or not: it is all about the profit, after all.

Oh, yes, you're right. My bad.
At least we still have some good old shooters without regenerating health :D
I hope the console game flops. Maybe then id will crawl back into the arms of the PC.

What makes you think they'll be as responsive as always? I'm reminded at this point of Gears Of War. I spent all of 20 minutes on it before uninstalling it from my PC forever. Why? Because of the absolutely horrible, handicapped, artificially restrictive "controller in mind" controls.

It's poor business logic. The story goes like this:
They don't have a huge market share in brand loyalty on the console market, that's why they put their PC fanbase as secondary priority.
Huh?
I agree, I really hope it flops on the consoles. Maybe then they will see the idiocy of their attempts to stretch their Ben Franklin. Ironically, instead of doing some aggressive marketing, they're just sitting on their asses, twiddling thumbs and naively thinking that their new audience can tell the difference between RAGE and Fallout 3
I don't see a problem with regenerating health. It works pretty fine for me.
As for the "primary with controllers in mind" thing... I don't think you guys got it: id essentially knows how to make keyboard and mouse work always. They simply can't possibly fuck it up. The controllers on the other side... if they don't focus on them, all hell may break loose.
