Got to the first bridge that was home to a few military soldiers. Didn't like the thought of paying to pass, so I started shooting at them. All goes well, a minute or two of shooting... and then I killed what I thought was the last one of them. Few seconds later, I hear more gunshots. It seems like the guys separated because at the same time they were being attacked by three bandits.

The bandits killed the two remaining military soldiers, and started shooting at me. I killed them, but barely managed to stay alive... when several seconds later, just after reloading my pistol, I was attacked by a pack of mutated dogs and eaten alive.

So, just another day being entertained by the awesome randomness of the game. Wish more shooters did this, and did less heavy scripting (talking about you, COD).

(just wanted to share this)
And then... Stalker 2 was cancelled! Again! :(

You're right. The world needs more games like these (Pripyat being one of the best, if not the best FPS ever made). But it really doesn't seem like anyone's interested in stepping up to the plate and filling the big Stalker shaped void we now have. Even in spite of the clearly quite large fan base that would lap any such effort up.
yeah i really love stalker too, the second one was way too unforgiving for me. Somehow i couldn't survive a single fight so after many tries i quit. The third one's difficulty is a lot more manageable but it feels so empty (not in a good way, like it wasn't finished) and therefor a bit boring...

I couldn't agree with you more, two days ago I just finished Clear Sky, while I didn't find it as good as Shadow of Chernobyl, it's a good deal of fun. Now I can start with Call of Pripyat. What I also like about Stalker is that the environment just look and feel so authentic, much more than any other game I played. Man, I can't just stop talking about how awesome these games are, so I have to stop now. ;o)

b.t.w. If you want to see an earlier work of creativity from GSC, be sure to check out Codename: Outbreak.

Yeah, I love how various groups can wander around the Zone and cause all sorts of situations. Makes things interesting.
Okay you just made me install Call of Pripyat. I never did play the STALKER games properly.

This was actually my second playthrough of Clear Sky. I played it on veteran, with the Clear Sky Complete mod cause it fixes some of the bugs, though it is still very buggy. Also the mod allows you to go back out of Limansk so you can get some more medkits and bandages which was really becoming problematic in my first playthrough. Also take some time to search for artefacts, some really make your life a lot easier.

Stalker has some of the best AI that i've seen in a videogame. The AI programming is simply brilliant. The enemy soldiers will take cover, duck, hide and when you are not looking, they rush your position. Great stuff.
Stalker is awesome. Install some mods too, experience improves greatly!
Also, MG nest at the beginning of clear skies, omg how I hated it XD
Ah, now I remember why I stopped playing STALKER.

The fucking tunnel under the railway embankment.
I only recently learned about the STALKER games (or, in Yahtzee's words: the ess tee a el kay ee arr games) but they look really really awesome. I'm really tempted to buy Shadows of Chernobyl because it's pretty cheap on Amazon, but I have such a huge backlog at the moment.

The one filled with lightning anomalies in Cordon? It's much easier to pass over the railway, by going uphill to the right of the bridge. There's an opening in the fence, so just sneak/run like hell over there.

Or just do what I did in the first post.

EDIT: Oh, yes, I really 'love' being called 'kурво'. :/

Apart from the whole 'torn apart by dogs' thing...

You can cross over the top right near them. But suffice to say they don't like that. Still it does make for a more defensible position, being on that embankment.
