Oh, so the USA decided "Osama the fuse" was not useful anymore? Or is Obama already planning his presidential campaign, so he can say "I put down Ben Laden"??
Sorry for the cynism, heh, but all that is pure bullshit to keep the masses occupied. But there's several GOGers in that thread who said something very true: the USA had no interest whatsoever in Ben Laden's capture. The man could have talked, a lot, and it wouldn't have been pretty.
I8t's exactly the same about Saddam Hussein. Not only the USA, but also France and the UK saw no objectif to see him hanged very quickly without a public, open and international trial "Nuremberg-style": too many economical links, too many political ties (just look at the french friends of Saddam, for example).
During the poast 10 years, Ben Laden served as a scarecrow, the kind you shake before mesmerized masses to tell them "don't complain about your liberties disappearing, we're doing that only to protect you from that guy".
This is not said to say that Ben Laden planned or didn't plan 9/11. It is of little relevance, 10 years after. This is just to say: if you believe that after 9/11 Ben Laden played any other real role than the one I described, you were misleaded.
So, now that Ben Laden is dead, I guess that the US troops will leave Afghanistan very soon, right? Oh the irony.
