SheBear: Yeah, probably. Though I don't actually remember anything important coming out of the trial of Saddam Hussein, and we totally supported him forever. It isn't like this stuff isn't known to people who care.

drmlessgames: Saddam should have been tried in an international court, not quickly in a small court in a rushed effort, but the usa didnt want that, because he would have said a lot of back when he was best friends with the USA. All these foes were one time best allies.
True facts. Geopolitics is the most confusing thing.
duh, they killed a double. HAvent you played cod?
This won't be a popular stance but I'm disgusted by the USA.

All this "tears of joy" bullshit makes me sick.

What about Vietnam? Iraq? USA has done its fair bit of fucked up shit. To wit, here is my facebook status:

****** finds it interesting how everyone is all proud and going "Woohoo" that Osama Bin Laden is dead. Yet no one is recognising the fact that he hid for over a decade from the world's leading superpower, fought for what he believed in and pretty much never stooped down to a media shit-flinging fight. At least he had integrity. RIP brave warrior of Allah.
When considering US support of Libyan rebels, realize that there are many Alqaeda among them. There are people who would have us arm and fund them.

I am not happy about bin Laden's death; happy isn't an emotion to have about death, anyone's death. But I feel a lot of closure by his death. In the interests of full disclosure I was 10 on September 11th, 2001 and so much of my life has been shaped by that event and the plans/ideology of this man.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he had integrity, though since I really don't know anything about bin Laden personally I couldn't tell you that. I also wouldn't call him a "warrior of Allah". His perversion of Islam is not something to celebrate any more than his death is.
Meh, I really can't bring myself to care about this. Quite frankly the damage from the attacks the guy orchestrated was pretty minor compared to the damage we inflicted on ourselves in response.

Whatever your views of US politicians it is a FACT that Osama bin Laden ordered the murder of innocents. I understand your sentiment but you are severely misguided.

EDIT: Once again, I'm not exonerating anyone else but Osama did murder thousands.
EDIT: Again, this man would murder a woman for being raped.

I could give you lee way if he was a leader in a war against the US and fought and killed only US soldiers. It's war, everybody has their own side. But he caused the deaths of over 3,000 civilians. That's not brave, that's cowardly. If you want to fight a war, fight with the men and women who are trained to fight, not some office worker who barely knows how to use a fax machine.

Krypsyn: He was at best a figurehead for Al Qaeda

nondeplumage: Hey, if that shitty King's Speech has taught us anything, it's the figureheads who mean everything and are the real heroes of moral.
Hey, I saw that today! It was fantastic, I hope that was sarcasm. :P

Oscar bait fail. Don't give in!

Kabuto: Is it wrong to be happy he wasn't simply captured?
Umm, and how long did we keep Sadam alive?

Tulivu: The US has a few. I would assume it would be MARSOC but I want to be certain. Keep your eyes open, I'll probably open a gift thread after this.
Apparently it was a joint raid planned by JSOC after the information was gathered by a CIA Special Activities Division team, and that DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6) conducted the actual raid.

The Oscars are total balls. Who gives a flying burrito what those schmucks think? I watch movies, and if they're good. I like them. It's crazy.

Poked and prodded in his whitey tighties and executed on video... boing snap (I don't know what hanging sounds like)

Thank you. I had hoped my brothers had gotten him first but the squids did a damn fine job.
