nmillar: Body dumped at sea before any photos could be taken? It's the moon landing all over again ...
avatar
Sargon: It is somewhat suspicious that we aren't shown any picture of him, but it could be that they are afraid that showing his dead body to the world because it could be misinterpreted or warped. Some people could accuse Americans of showing his dead body around as a trophy.

If you believe that the moon landing never took place you are being deceived by tricksters, conspiracy theorists and crazy people. Read some astronomy. Our world is far more fantastic than any tinfoil hat man could ever realize.
There was a photo, but it was faked. ;)

I think nmillar suggested that "the lack of a photo" is bound to start a conspiracy theory, but i should let the man speak for himself.;)

Leroux: He he, okay let's get back to discussing animal metaphors again. :D
Subtly, oh so subtly, this is going to turn into a My Little Pony Bin Laden/Hitler slash fanfic.

Ah, my mistake.

Sargon: Ah, my mistake.
Oh, this thread is full of mistakes and misunderstandings. ;)

My favourite reply ever!

And you'd be right.

BTW, I killed Colonel Gaddafi last night. I didn't take any pictures and threw his body into the sea. Just take my word for it; he's definitely dead.

*throws a parade*
Yeah, hooray, good riddance mofos!
*throws insults at pro Gaddafians*
*waves a flag*
*laughs at people in doubt*
*declares nmillar a world hero*
*declares anyone who doubts the words of holy nmillar a thief, communist and terrorist*
*writes 10 articles on how Gaddafi died, including him s#$ting himself, begging for mercy, offering his daughters in exchange for his life*

Now, this comment shouldn't cause a stir. ;D
I bet You've sent him to the moon, thats where the Masons have their base.

My gut feeling says that I should trust you.

Wraith: As a history major, I find it amusing so many people are arguing against his assassination.

Only in the 20th/21st century would you have people considering the assassination of someone so barbaric and hated throughout the world as being a deplorable act. It's not like this is the first hated person throughout history to be assassinated either.
avatar
Fenixp: Oh, so you're a history major... I almost found it disturbing that you knew something about our history for a change
avatar
Sargon: I don't agree that there is a principal difference here. We are much more advanced than any other animal in our morals and culture but for us as with them it is a mix between genetic rules and how the environment influences the individual.
avatar
Fenixp: I found it pointless to argue with people about that. They'll never get off their high horse.
My focus is Asian history, specifically Japan and Korea. But I've also studied plenty of World War II history since most colleges have very diverse programs regarding it, and my dad told me from a young age to look at every aspect of history, not just the US perspective.

I find not knowing all sides of a story is a disservice to anyone studying history, and it infuriates me when I see it in classes.
people are stupid

lackoo1111: people are stupid
My favourite is the guy who said, "Isn't this the 3rd time he's died, he must be the Elvis."

Well, sometimes it's unintentional, there just isn't much information written by and about Gauls than there is about Romans.

But I do agree with your broader point, there's little point in studying history if there isn't a serious effort paid to getting it as fair and balanced as possible to the various sides. I remember being shocked to learn that there were free black settlements in the South prior to the civil war.

Of course I´m sure that the the americans took pictures of his dead body, they´re not stupid, just didn´t want to show his dead body as a trophy. Be sure that we´ll see it on a non distant future (wait until the "conspiranoids" begin with their stupid theories as we saw with 9/11)

I also think its sad to see the anti-Islam nuts spout random bullshit when they don't know jack shit about the history of Mohammad or the culutural/scientific advancements made under their leadership, and the expansion of the Caliphs (which was not the mass murder of unbelievers as you are very quick to hear).
