Indeed, you'd think they'd learn that the temperatures fall to below zero every so often from late November through February and that this white stuff falls at the same time, yet three quarters of their scheduled trains are more often completely missing than just very late.

I haven't seen any decent snowfall in two years. The temperature was actually unusually warm for most of January. Not even coat weather. Either the climate is drastically changing or some kids somewhere out there are getting digivices as we speak.

I don't complain because I live literallly a few feet from the biggest lake in the world which keeps our temps anywhere from 10 to 20 degress higher than everyone inland. Also we don't get slush; I did when I lived 700 miles south of here but everything up here is fluffy. I will say this, a bicycle wouldn't cut it. :D It's either a 4x4, a snow mobile, or you stay home. Now that I think of it, 90% of the people up here are of Finish ancestry, maybe I should ask them which is better or worse.

I've got a mountain bike, which means massive grip on snow and good even on slush. The gears still get clogged up, though, so if it's slushly, I pretty much have to choose a gear ratio and then stick with it unless I feel like fishing through them looking for one that works.

Also, I presume you've never heard of fatbikes.

I have now. I looked them up, very nice. It's another example of, as much as I love this country, we as Americans are terminally screwed by our addiction to gasoline. I've never heard of fat bikes before today because for the most part they are just recreational over here. Mind you I'm not giving up my car but we seriously need to catch up with the rest of the world when it comes to sensible mobility.

Its a fucking pain in the arse, I have about six inches of snow and ill be damned if I was able to get the car out today (poor street design is partly to blame) I might have managed if I could get some traction but ill be damned if I can find my chains (chains were last seen in 2010)

No snow in this part of Ireland so far, although the country I am originally from got it's share of snow this year as well.

I live in the Austrian foothills of the Alps, so you can bet your ass there's snow here. Winter lasts approximately four to five months, roughly between October and March. And at least half of the time it's white outside. If I remember correctly, the first snow flakes fell on October 28th.

Winter time indeed has a lot to offer if you're an athlete, tourist, child, outdoorsman or simply like to enjoy its beauty. Especially the snowy mountains are a stunningly beautiful sight, and it feels great to live where other people take their vacations. On the other hand, you have to deal with the inconveniences. Daily routines like driving your car can become a pain in the ass. I hate it. Anoter issue is the flooding after the melting. From a pragmatical point of view: Winter costs a shitload of money and entails lots of dangers.

Personally I prefer the moderate seasons (spring and autumn) to the extremes (summer and winter).

well it's official sports fans, the UK has seen 4 flakes of snow, and is officially CLOSED until further notice !!!!
