As someone else has already pointed out, it's very probably to promote the third Sniper Elite game. I looked at the DLC for SE2 and none of them seem very worthwhile. *shrug*

Kind of similar approach to is as with "free-to-play" games with microtransactions.
I think the dlc's arent that much to talk about (from what ive heard) - but they are certainly hoping you would preorder SE3..

Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945 on GOG is pretty awesome IMHO so I've had the rest of the games in the franchise on my wishlist for some time now and was just mentioning a day or two ago to a buddy about them and v3 coming out soon. Pretty cool that one day later we get the game for free LOL. Now maybe... just maybe Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 will come out and they'll do a free promo on Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 Gold or something and all of us snipers can rejoice! :oP

I've logged over 80 hours on V2, pretty decent game. The long range shots are not there like in original sniper elite. The DLC's are only worth getting on sale though. Really looking forward to SE3

Already had it for years and to be honest, it's not that good.. but it is quite generous and nice and kudos to the devs for posting a "Don't buy this game this week" message on Facebook several days ago.
