Hi,
I have been trying to get Descent 3 now for about a week. I first tried downloading at home last week. But got the slow download speed. I then tried at work where we have as decent line but the same problem persists. I don't have any problems downloading anything else and get usually at least 30 - 77 kb download. But Descent downloads at 10 - 15 Kb. I got to 90% just 15 min ago then the downloader gave an error and said that download has been reset. Aargh ! I am downloading from South Africa.
Thanks
Not sure if it's a route issue or the download servers are super busy. It's taking a long time for me to download as well -- California here. The price of success? Ah well, it's still faster than snail mail. :)

What downloader are you using?

kiva: What downloader are you using?

Using the GOG downloader. Tried normal at first but kept losing my download. Like I said the GOG downloader at least kept things going, but then dropped me at 90%. Very frustrating. I assume then it must be a routing thing, yes...
Don't have this problem with Steam etc.

Unfortunately we have had previous reports from users from South Africa, that they are experiencing low download speeds. We are looking into this matter, also we're working on improving our downloader app to improve stability on slow connections.
But for now I can only suggest that you try again using our downloader app.
Curious, are there multiple mirrors for each game? If so, possibly a threaded download approach may boost the speeds (like those download accelerator programs that will grab from multiple mirrors at once). Or if people have problems with the downloader, an option to download the file in parts 1/2/3/4/5 and it's auto broken down for them - they just have to unzip/unrar the parts to the same location (could even be done with self extraction).
I have no idea how your system works, just tossing ideas out there. :)
